VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) has learned that Shenzhen Innermedical Medical Technology Co., Ltd. (“Innermedical”) recently announced the completion of its Series D equity financing, raising nearly RMB 300 million.

This round of financing was led by Sinopharm Capital and Simiao Capital, with follow-on investments from Jishi Investment, Chengshang Investment, funds under Minsheng Securities, Huatai Guoxin Medical Industry Investment Fund, Dice Investment, Anxin Light Salt Pharmaceutical and Health Industry Investment Fund, and Longgang Financial Holdings. The proceeds from this round will be used to advance and strengthen the research and development of innovative product lines, capacity building, market expansion, and team development.

Since its establishment in 2015, Innermedical has focused on the field of major diseases, continuously providing high-quality, innovative diagnostic and therapeutic solutions for clinical practice. The company’s product portfolio centers on gastrointestinal and respiratory tract tumors, as well as cardiovascular diseases. Placing paramount importance on research and development, Innermedical has achieved independent R&D capabilities across multiple modules, including optics, electronics, algorithms, ultrasound, and mechanics. With 90% of its core technologies developed in-house and over 200 patent applications filed, the company has established significant technological and commercial barriers.

The company possesses exceptional capabilities in software and hardware development, multi-platform imaging technologies, mature designs and manufacturing processes for flexible endoscopes, and leading design and manufacturing capabilities for key precision components. It offers a range of innovative solutions for high-end minimally invasive imaging equipment, as well as active therapeutic devices for minimally invasive cardiovascular and intracardiac interventions.

Innermedical received approval and officially launched China’s first endoscopic ultrasound diagnostic device in August 2021, becoming the third company globally to master this technology. This innovation by Innermedical has filled the gap in China’s micro-imaging catheter technology. It has broken the long-standing monopoly held by Japanese corporate giants and is now present in over 300 hospitals across China (including large Grade IIIA hospitals), with clinical feedback indicating that its product performance even surpasses that of imported alternatives. The company also possesses multiple pioneering product solutions within the industry. Its core products include ultrasound endoscopes, electronic endoscopes, vascular imaging systems and related consumables, and it provides high-end active therapeutic devices for interventional surgeries.

In recent years, driven by the accelerating pace of population aging, industrialization, and urbanization, as well as factors such as chronic infections, unhealthy lifestyles, and environmental exposures, the incidence of cancer in China has been on a steady rise. Gastrointestinal and respiratory cancers, in particular, pose significant threats to public health. Beyond the generally poor prognosis associated with these malignancies, a major contributing factor is the insufficient screening for early-stage cancers and the uneven distribution of medical resources. In terms of early diagnosis, China’s current detection rate for early gastrointestinal cancers stands at less than 20%, significantly lagging behind Japan’s 70% and South Korea’s 55%. It is reported that when gastrointestinal tumors are diagnosed at an early stage, the five-year survival rate can exceed 90%; however, if the disease progresses to intermediate or advanced stages, the survival rate drops to merely 5–25%. Therefore, advancing early screening, investigation, diagnosis, and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, alongside intensified research efforts, is critical to improving survival rates and reducing mortality from malignant tumors. It is foreseeable that with the vigorous promotion of early cancer screening initiatives, the penetration rate of endoscopic diagnosis and therapy—the “gold standard” for gastrointestinal examination—will increase substantially.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the state has vigorously promoted new medical infrastructure, strengthened primary healthcare capabilities, and increased the proportion of high-quality medical resources. To support and drive innovation, breakthroughs, and development in domestic medical devices, the government has continuously introduced relevant policies in recent years. With strong national policy support, Innermedical, upholding a scientific spirit of innovation and a pragmatic commitment to excellence, has established multiple technology platforms—including ultrasound electronics, optical technologies, energy-based technologies, and interventional devices—along with more than 20 specialized technical sub-directions. Leveraging these technological platform advantages, Innermedical will continue to launch innovative product lines in the fields of high-end minimally invasive imaging diagnosis and treatment, as well as cardiovascular and intracardiac minimally invasive interventions.

Innermedical will continue to uphold its business philosophy of “Life First, Technology for Good,” striving with vigor and pioneering innovation to support the high-quality development of innovative medical devices. By promoting the “early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment” of major diseases, Innermedical remains committed to providing superior products and services for human life and health management.
