On December 18, the “2022 Digital Medical Technology and Application Innovation Competition,” initiated by Shanghai AI Laboratory and Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, successfully concluded. The event was jointly guided by the Shanghai Biomedical Industry Development Leading Group, Shanghai AI Laboratory, Shanghai Digital Medicine Innovation Center, the People’s Government of Huangpu District, Shanghai, and Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.
Established just two months ago,Huayao Zhiyin (Suzhou) Medical Technology Co., Ltd.(hereinafter referred to as“Huayao Zhiyin”) After successive rounds of preliminary, semi-final, and final competitions, by virtue of"Yilikù": An Intelligent Clinical Application and Rational Use Recommendation System for Antimicrobial Agents, standing out from over 200 projects to win the award for “Multimodal Fusion Diagnostic Technology and Applications in Healthcare”First Prize.

What is the background of this mysterious rising star? How did it manage to stand out among numerous innovative projects? What is “Yiliku,” which has emerged as a standout, and why did it earn unanimous high acclaim from the expert judges? With these questions in mind, VCBeat conducted an exclusive interview withQiu Fengxian, Founder of Huayao Zhiyin.

Qiu Fengxian, Founder of Huayao Zhiyin
Positioning in the billion-yuan blue ocean market for anti-infectives,
Cross-disciplinary holistic solutions covering the entire diagnosis and treatment process
Huayao Zhiyin was established on October 28, 2022. Centered on an Anti-Infective Knowledge Graph (KG), it leverages the “Yiliku” platform to integrate the entire ecosystem of the anti-infective field, providing comprehensive solutions for precision anti-infective therapy and dedicated to empowering smart, precise diagnosis and treatment of infections in China. Its mission is to ensure that all patients with infections receive the most timely, precise, and rational treatment.

Although Huayao Zhiyin is a young company in the industry, its core founding team consists of veterans who have each spent decades excelling in their respective fields.
The company’s founder, Qiu Fengxian, has been deeply rooted in the pharmaceutical industry for over two decades, including more than ten years of experience in the field of anti-infectives. He has previously held positions at global pharmaceutical giants such as Pfizer, Sanofi, AbbVie, and IQVIA, where he led and drove cross-functional innovative business models and facilitated the launch of multiple innovative drug products in China. He possesses extensive industry resources, unique industrial insights, and rich, multidimensional management experience in marketing, sales, and innovation.
The rest of the core team members include industry veterans like Qiu Fengxian, who has dedicated decades to the field of anti-infective therapy; international experts specializing in pharmaceutical analysis; algorithm engineers who have topped multiple international AI competitions; and senior technical professionals with over ten years of experience in IT and database development within the industry. This powerful alliance fosters cross-disciplinary innovation across medicine, industry, and commerce, building a formidable force characterized by keen market insights and robust technological innovation.
Curiosity is the innovator’s compass, and Qiu Fengxian is no exception. In particular, his passion for applying digital technologies in real-world clinical settings has been the enduring driving force behind his decades-long journey of continuous progress and far-reaching achievement.
The further Qiu Fengxian advances in the field of anti-infectives, the more clearly he recognizes a critical pain point in this RMB 100 billion-plus market: its large size, numerous players, and fragmented resources. The industry is characterized by a tripartite structure comprising pharmaceuticals, in vitro diagnostics (IVD), and medical devices. Each segment has spawned countless therapeutic products and equipment; however, insufficient integration among these sectors has led to prominent challenges, notably inadequate capabilities for precision diagnosis and treatment of infections.
The profound impact of antimicrobial resistance has also drawn the attention of relevant national authorities. On October 28, 2022, the National Health Commission and twelve other departments jointly formulated the “National Action Plan to Contain Antimicrobial Resistance (2022–2025),” promoting proactive responses to the challenges posed by antimicrobial resistance through informatization and intelligent approaches, thereby better safeguarding public health.
However, although some companies in the market are actively providing solutions, most of them only offer specific services in particular fields and cannot integrate drugs, IVD, and devices across different domains to provide a comprehensive precision treatment plan by connecting various parties.
Pioneering Anti-Infection Knowledge Graph and Rational Drug Use System,
Provide Rational, Effective, and Precise Diagnostic and Therapeutic Regimens for Personalized Anti-Infective Therapy
Addressing the pain points of multiple stakeholders and the shortcomings of existing solutions, Huayao Zhiyin has built a platform based onAnti-Infection Knowledge Graph (KG)as the core, using“MediLib”Integrate the entire ecosystem of the anti-infective field to provide comprehensive solutions covering the full process of diagnosis and treatment.
Pioneering Anti-Infection Knowledge Graph: Chinese-Centric, Standardizing Industry Norms

Huayao Zhiyin, in collaboration with top industry experts, has developed an anti-infection knowledge graph to support clinical decision-making. To facilitate use by physicians in China, the knowledge graph is primarily in Chinese, breaking down language barriers and minimizing reading difficulties, thereby helping to expand and decentralize high-quality medical resources.
Qiu Fengxian candidly stated that the lack of specialized disease-specific knowledge bases in China’s anti-infection field has led to fragmented standards and an inability to integrate data, thereby hindering the advancement of intelligent and efficient management in anti-infection care. The Anti-Infection Knowledge Graph developed by Huayao Zhiyin aims to collaborate with relevant clinical stakeholders—including biological experts, hospital infection control specialists, and healthcare professionals—to streamline complex, non-standardized processes into regulated frameworks, fostering industry consensus and standardization.
YiLiKu: An Agent of Co-evolution between AI and Experts
Based on an anti-infection knowledge graph, Huayao Zhiyin approaches the field from three aspects: treatment, medical devices, and diagnostics. It has further established “Yiliku,” a digital-intelligent closed-loop system that provides rational medication recommendations following knowledge extraction.
By leveraging AI algorithms integrated with high-quality data sources—including domain-specific expert knowledge, clinical expertise, consensus guidelines from scholarly literature, and real-world clinical data—alongside a continuously optimized recommendation system, it evolves into an autonomously coordinated and co-evolving intelligent agent. Through comprehensive integration, it delivers solutions for the rational diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases.
To address the accuracy of medication recommendations and facilitate long-term post-administration monitoring, Huayao Zhiyin is actively collaborating with industry experts on clinical studies to establish standardized, quantifiable group standards, thereby ensuring comprehensive coverage of the entire process of personalized diagnosis and treatment for anti-infective therapies.

At the “2022 Digital Medical Technology and Application Innovation Competition,” Chen Erzhen, Vice President of Ruijin Hospital affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, led the team for the Yiliku project and, in collaboration with Huayao Zhiyin, claimed the championship.
Meanwhile, Huayao Zhiyin is currently fostering close collaborations with multiple Grade A tertiary hospitals. According to Qiu Fengxian, the company’s project advancement and commercialization are proceeding smoothly at this stage, and it is in discussions regarding partnerships with several large domestic hospitals as well as leading companies both in China and abroad.
At the same time, he looks forward to more medical experts in the field of anti-infection joining hands with Huayao Zhiyin to jointly establish industry standards and ecosystems, continuously nurturing the upward growth of China's anti-infection sector.
