Recently, Suzhou Geek Gene Technology Co., Ltd. (“Geek Gene”) completed its Pre-A financing round. Led by Boru Capital and another well-known investment firm, the funds raised will be primarily used to enhance key technology platforms, accelerate the development of its product pipeline, and conduct preclinical and clinical studies for its first product.

GeekGene is an innovative cell therapy developer specializing in the regulation of cell fate through high-throughput omics data, currently focusing on the preparation of high-quality T cells for the treatment of advanced solid tumors.

Over the past decade, cell therapy has achieved significant breakthroughs in treating major human diseases, particularly cancer, yet it still faces numerous critical bottlenecks. The most prominent issue is that ex vivo culture of immune cells often leads to functional decline and exhaustion. Starting from first principles, GeekGene has leveraged its core proprietary technology—simultaneous monitoring of tens of thousands of gene expression regulatory relationships during cell culture—to develop a Cell Fate Navigation System, thereby transforming the traditional T-cell manufacturing paradigm. GeekGene’s lead product pipeline consists of tumor-reactive T cells, which contain a high proportion of naive-like, tumor-specific T cells, and have demonstrated internationally leading efficacy data in preclinical tumor animal models.

The core team of GeekGene hails from prestigious universities such as Peking University, Harvard University, and the University of Tokyo, bringing over a decade of experience in sequencing technologies and cellular programming. The company boasts world-leading platforms for single-cell multi-omics data collection, low-cost high-throughput omics technologies, and cell fate reprogramming. The stability of its related data is at the forefront globally, and its core patents are among the earliest approved worldwide for this class of technological platforms.

Leveraging its three major technology platforms, GeekGene has developed a Cell Fate Navigation System and successfully created innovative cell therapy drugs. Dr. Lai Weifeng, Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of GeekGene, stated that reactivating terminally exhausted T cells to unlock their therapeutic potential remains a significant challenge in the field of tumor immunology. GeekGene does not rely on traditional T cell culture modelsUpregulate or downregulate the expression of a specific gene, but rather leverages its core technological advantages to drive innovation through a cell fate navigation system, thereby enhancing the anti-tumor potential of T cells.

BoRu Capital, the lead investor in this round, has long adhered to the philosophy of “discovering value and creating value,” focusing on investment opportunities in life sciences, biopharmaceuticals, TMT, and core hard-tech sectors. Mr. Li Yuezhong, Founding Partner of BoRu Capital, stated, “Our investments are grounded in a shared long-term strategy and value vision with the companies and their founders.” Leveraging this investment, BoRu Capital will provide GeekGene with comprehensive biopharmaceutical industry resources and work hand in hand with GeekGene’s founders and senior management to build a robust industry ecosystem. Upon completion of the investment, Mr. Zhang Haotian, Partner at BoRu Capital, will also join the company’s Board of Directors.

Dr. Yong Jun, Founder and CEO of GeekGene, expressed his sincere gratitude to institutions such as Boru Capital and Wuming Capital for their participation in this round of investment in GeekGene. He thanked the partners for their recognition and support of GeekGene’s source innovation capabilities and team strength, which have provided strong support for the development of the company’s platform and products. Looking ahead, the team aims to strengthen its various product pipelines with the continued support of its investors. The team is confident that it will continuously enhance the clinical application value of its Cell Fate Navigation Technology, thereby benefiting more patients with solid tumors in the future.
