Neurointerventional Surgical Robot
Blue Ocean Market for Innovative Medical Devices
The vascular intervention market, represented by neurovascular interventions, has a strong demand for surgical robots. Stroke has a high mortality rate and affects a large patient population, while surgical procedures are fraught with pain points and technical challenges. Surgical robots can significantly improve operational efficiency and reduce surgical risks through high-precision, intelligent manipulation.
Stroke is an acute cerebrovascular disease characterized by a group of conditions that cause brain tissue damage due to sudden rupture of cerebral blood vessels or blockage preventing blood flow to the brain. It ranks first in both mortality and disability rates in China, with the number of patients increasing at an annual rate of 9%. From 2016 to 2030, the number of new stroke cases is projected to rise by 118 million.
Compared with pharmacological and surgical treatments, interventional therapy boasts unique advantages, including minimal invasiveness, rapid postoperative recovery, fewer complications, and a broad range of indications, making it highly regarded in clinical practice. However, the penetration rate of interventional therapy remains low in China. This is primarily due to several challenges that hinder the rapid development of neurointerventional procedures: the fine and tortuous nature of cerebral vessels, their thin and fragile walls, the high technical difficulty and intensity of neurointerventional surgeries, significant radiation exposure, prolonged learning curves for physicians, and shortened career spans. Furthermore, there is a scarcity of specialists in the field of neurointervention, leaving patients in remote and rural areas unable to receive timely treatment. From 2024 to 2030, the market size of neurointerventional surgical robots in China is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 40%.
As a pioneer in vascular interventional surgical robots in China, Vansi Medical has continuously innovated from the perspectives of clinicians and patients, addressing clinical pain points to develop interventional robotic products that are truly practical, user-friendly, and preferred in clinical practice. The company’s interventional surgical robot enables remote operation from outside the procedure room and covers the entire workflow of vascular interventional surgeries. It thoroughly liberates physicians from high-radiation environments, eliminating the need to wear heavy lead aprons and allowing them to perform procedures in optimal condition. Meanwhile, the robot extends surgeons’ movements with millimeter-level precision, significantly enhancing the safety, stability, and accuracy of surgical operations, ultimately benefiting patients.
Wansi Medical has entered the market through neurointervention, selecting angiography—the most prevalent procedure in neurovascular interventional therapy—as the clinical focus for its first-generation product, thereby addressing the most immediate clinical application needs. Meanwhile, its operation encompasses all fundamental movements involved in vascular interventional surgery: catheter and guidewire delivery and rotation. It can simulate physicians’ actions of holding, delivering, and rotating catheters and guidewires, laying the robotic operational foundation for all vascular interventional procedures and building an “aircraft carrier”-level platform solution for future pan-vascular interventional robotics. In the future, these robots will be capable of AI-based assessment, preoperative planning, and intraoperative alerts, enabling safer and more effective patient treatment. Additionally, 5G and intelligent technologies will empower primary healthcare institutions.
