Chongqing Rehabilitation Assistive Devices Industrial Park Welcomes New R&D and Industrialization Projects with Focus on Digital Therapeutics and Limb Function Recovery

On March 24, the signing ceremony for investment promotion projects of the Chongqing Rehabilitation Assistive Devices Industrial Park and the appointment ceremony of Professor Jia Jie from Huashan Hospital as the Industry Empowerment Ambassador for Banan District were grandly held in Banan District, Chongqing.

At the meeting, Professor Jia Jie was appointed as the Industry Empowerment Ambassador of Banan District. Subsequently, Chongqing International Biological City signed project investment agreements with Shanghai Electric Intelligent Medical Rehabilitation Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Shanghai Electric Medical”) and Shanghai Niantong Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Shanghai Niantong”), establishing that Professor Jia Jie’s scientific research achievements in technology transfer at both companies will be based in Banan. Furthermore, it was announced at the meeting that the 2023 International Conference on Geriatric Rehabilitation would be held at Chongqing International Biological City.

Professor Jia Jie currently serves as Deputy Director of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Huashan Hospital, Fudan University, and Vice President of Huashan Hospital Fujian Branch. He is the principal investigator for the National Key R&D Program project titled “Research on the Full-Cycle Rehabilitation Technology System and Information-Based Management for the Elderly.” Professor Jia specializes in evidence-based research and management of full-cycle rehabilitation for common geriatric diseases and functional impairments. In his new role as the Banan Industry Empowerment Ambassador, Professor Jia will provide talent and intellectual support to foster the high-quality development of Banan’s biomedical industry cluster.

The projects signed in this agreement are the Yuanfei Digital Therapeutics Application and Translation Center Project and the Niantong Innovative Technology Application and Translation Project for Limb Function Rehabilitation and Reconstruction.

Among these, the Yuanfei Digital Therapeutics Application and Translation Center Project focuses on translating Professor Jia Jie’s digital therapeutics for breast cancer and stroke. The project company has been commissioned to manufacture three products for Shanghai Electric Medical, covering digital pharmaceuticals and mirror-series products. The estimated investment is RMB 50 million, with an expected output value of RMB 100 million upon reaching full production capacity. The Niantong Limb Function Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Innovative Technology Application and Translation Project involves Shanghai Niantong commissioning the project company to produce products such as EEG caps and EMG closed-loop systems, while carrying out R&D and industrial application of products related to technologies including electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG), near-infrared spectroscopy, and electrical stimulation.

Since being designated as the “Chongqing Rehabilitation Assistive Devices Industrial Park” by the Chongqing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau in 2020, the Chongqing International Bio-City has attracted rehabilitation-related projects such as Qianjing Rehabilitation, the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Digital Medicine Joint Technology Center, and Jia’ao Technology, yielding initial development results. The signing and settlement of investment promotion projects for the Chongqing Rehabilitation Assistive Devices Industrial Park will further expand the industrial chain structure and promote the construction of the park.
