2. The proposed results of the national joint procurement of cardiac pacemakers in 27 provinces of China have been announced.
Recently, the Zhejiang Provincial Medical Insurance Bureau announced the provisional winning results of the inter-provincial alliance procurement for medical consumables such as pacemakers, reaching the scale of a "small national procurement," covering 27 provinces and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, with a procurement cycle of three years. The total annual demand is 84,800 units for conventional pacemakers, 5,639 units for leadless pacemakers, and 171,400 electrode leads. Major companies including Medtronic, Abbott, Biotronik, and Boston Scientific, which rank among the top five in hospital demand, have all been provisionally selected. These four multinational enterprises previously accounted for over 80% of the demand, with a share of more than 90% for high-end products. Prior to this procurement, the prices of pacemakers remained high, ranging from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of yuan per unit. After the procurement, prices generally fell within the range of ten thousand to one hundred thousand yuan. The specific price reduction figures for this procurement have not been announced yet, but the expected decrease is considered to be more significant compared to previous winning bids. (MedTrend)
