VCBeat learned that the “Nucleic Acid Drug Development Forum and Signing Ceremony for Tsingke Biotechnology’s Synthetic Biology Jintan Industrial Base Project” was successfully held on April 8 in Jintan District, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province.

 

In recent years, the enthusiasm for the research, development, and industrialization of nucleic acid therapeutics has remained high, with China’s nucleic acid drug industry experiencing rapid growth. Co-hosted by Tsingke Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and the People’s Government of Jintan District, Changzhou City, this forum was themed “Intelligent Manufacturing for the Future.” It invited academicians, experts, scholars, pharmaceutical executives, and healthcare investors to discuss the prospects and development trends of the nucleic acid therapeutics industry through keynote speeches and high-level dialogues. Notably, Tsingke Biotechnology made a striking debut of its “TsiKer™ High-Throughput Synthesizer” at the forum, jointly accelerating the advancement of the nucleic acid therapeutics industry.

First, Xu Yawei, Deputy Secretary of the Jintan District Committee of the Communist Party of China and Mayor of the Jintan District People’s Government, and Ma Shijin, Founder, Chairman, and President of Tsingke Biotechnology Co., Ltd., delivered opening remarks respectively. Subsequently, Yu Zhongjun, Director of the Administrative Committee of Jintan Economic Development Zone, and Dr. Du Jun, Vice President of Tsingke Biotechnology, signed the cooperation agreement for the “Tsingke Biotechnology Synthetic Biology Jintan Industrial Base Project.” The establishment of this industrial base marks a key strategic deployment by Tsingke Biotechnology, a domestic enterprise with an independent, full-industry-chain gene synthesis platform, in areas such as synthetic raw materials, synthesis equipment, and automation of synthesis processes.

Meanwhile, in the presence of Professor Liu Zhiqiang from the College of Biotechnology and Bioengineering at Zhejiang University of Technology; Yu Zhongjun, Director of the Administrative Committee of Jintan Economic Development Zone; Xie Chenxiang, Director of the Management Office of the New Materials Science and Technology Industrial Park in Jintan Economic Development Zone; Ma Shijin, Founder and Chairman of Tsingke Biotechnology; Du Jun, Vice President of Tsingke Biotechnology; Xiao Xiaowen, Co-founder and Vice President of Tsingke Biotechnology; and all attendees on site, Tsingke Biotechnology unveiled its new flagship product: the “TsiKer™ High-Throughput Synthesizer.”

According to Dr. Chen Yuanyuan, Senior R&D Scientist at Tsingke Biotechnology, the high-throughput oligonucleotide synthesizer “TsiKer™ Syn HL-12” is dedicated to the field of oligonucleotide drug synthesis. It provides laboratory-scale and pilot-scale synthesis equipment, along with supporting synthesis processes, solid supports, and reagents, to specifically address the fundamental technical challenges in oligonucleotide manufacturing.

This synthesizer ensures that chemical reactions are thorough, stable, safe, and reproducible, enabling scalable synthesis with high purity and high yield. It also guarantees the equipment’s high adaptability to diverse synthesis scenarios, ensuring efficient utilization of synthetic inputs. The launch of TsiKer™ marks Tsingke Biotechnology’s simultaneous resolution of two core technological challenges: “high-precision solid-phase synthesis equipment” and “scalable linear synthesis processes.” This achievement ensures efficient and stable oligonucleotide synthesis, poised to propel China’s nucleic acid therapeutics into a new phase of innovation and breakthrough development.


Two major milestones achieved by Tsingke Biotechnology kept the forum at a continuous high, while academicians, experts, scholars, and investors from the biotechnology sector delivered insightful academic presentations and engaged in stimulating intellectual exchanges.

 

The forum kicked off with an insightful presentation titled “Synthetic Biology Technologies Boosting the Innovation and Development of Biopharmaceuticals” by Academician Zheng Yuguo, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, an expert in biochemical engineering, and a member of the 13th and 14th National Committees of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. Academician Zheng shared insights on topics including changes in the market size of biopharmaceuticals and biosynthesis, the development of key technologies in synthetic biology, and the application of synthetic biology in biopharmaceutical manufacturing. By reviewing the iterative development history of diabetes medications, he highlighted the various advantages of synthetic biology in innovative drug research and development. Dr. Chen Qixian, Distinguished Researcher and Doctoral Supervisor at Dalian University of Technology, presented the latest research progress from his team titled “Ordered Condensation of DNA and Gene Therapy.” Dr. Shen Yue, Director of the Changdang Lake Institute of Engineering Biology at BGI and Chief Scientist of Synthetic Biology at BGI-Shenzhen, primarily discussed “Industry Trends in Enabling Technologies for Synthetic Biology.”

At the high-level dialogue on “Opportunities and Challenges in the Industrialization of Nucleic Acid Therapeutics,” Academician Zheng Yuguo; Dr. Du Jun, Vice President of Tsingke Biotechnology; Professor Yang Shihui from Hubei University; Dr. Chen Yan, Chief Operating Officer of Huapu Bio; Mr. Zhao Gang, Partner at SoftBank China Capital; and Mr. Ge Dangqiao, Deputy General Manager of Huirong Fund under Henan Investment Group, respectively shared their insights and engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as “The Promotion of Nucleic Acid Therapeutics Development by Advances in Synthetic Biology Technology,” “Innovative Approaches to Scale-Up Production of Nucleic Acid Therapeutics,” “Changes in the Investment Environment and Philosophy for Nucleic Acid Therapeutics,” “Key Strategies and Supportive Policies for Advancing the Practical Application of Synthetic Biology,” “Interpretation of Domestic Policies Related to Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing,” and “Reflections on Boosting Innovative Development of China’s Biopharmaceutical Industry.” Their contributions continuously sparked enthusiastic responses from the audience.

The 14th Five-Year Plan period represents a crucial strategic window for the development of China’s bioeconomy, creating new platforms for sustainable development, policy frameworks, and a contemporary backdrop for green revolutions in agriculture, healthcare, energy, environmental protection, and other industries.
