VB100 Forum on Assisted Reproductive Technology Industry: Seizing Opportunities Amid Policy-Driven Growth

Apr 27, 2023 18:52 CST Updated 18:52

In response to the declining birth rate, accelerating population aging, and the year-on-year increase in infertility prevalence, China has issued a series of multidimensional guidelines and development policies for the assisted reproductive technology (ART) industry, covering aspects such as technical access approvals and cost reimbursement. These measures have standardized and guided the market, thereby promoting industry growth. Since the release of the “Guiding Opinions on Further Improving and Implementing Proactive Fertility Support Measures” in August 2022, relevant authorities in Beijing, Hangzhou, and Jingmen have introduced supportive policies. By providing special subsidies or including ART services in medical insurance reimbursement schemes, these policies have effectively reduced the financial burden on patients undergoing infertility treatment, thereby significantly stimulating demand for assisted reproductive services.

The Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Industry Development Forum, established at the 7th Future Healthcare Top 100 Conference, will be divided into three segments: interpretation of market policies, innovation across the upstream and downstream market chain, and support for the market ecosystem. The forum will discuss and summarize the opportunities and challenges related to the domestication of ART devices and pharmaceuticals, strategies for ART institutions to improve success rates, cross-border ART services, and the integration of commercial insurance into ART coverage.
