On April 30, in São Paulo, Brazil—the largest city on the South American continent and known as the "Heart of the Southern Hemisphere"—the DragonFly™ Transcatheter Mitral Valve Clip System successfully completed its first commercial implantation. This follows the first implantation in Vietnam on April 22.(Click here to learn more),DragonFly™ has taken a crucial step forward, spanning half the globe.
In this hub city that converges multicultural influences and top-tier medical resources in Latin America, DragonFly™ has not only completed the commercialization loop in the Latin American market but also injected new acceleration into Valgen Medtech's globalization process.
From Southeast Asia to Latin America, within a time span of less than 30 days, the DragonFly™ completed its first implantations in both Vietnam and Brazil. This efficient "global rhythm" not only verifies the product's international versatility in addressing complex anatomical structures but also reflects the profound recognition by global operators of this technical solution. In these emerging medical markets, original Chinese technology is entering local clinical systems with professionalism and rigor, achieving a transformation from initial access breakthroughs to deep academic engagement.

The patient receiving treatment this time is a 56-year-old female with a history of heart failure and ICD implantation. She was clinically diagnosed with severe (4+) atrial functional mitral regurgitation (AFMR). Her Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) score indicated a 10.4% surgical mortality risk, categorizing her as high-risk for traditional surgical intervention.
After a comprehensive preoperative assessment and rigorous论证, it was最终 determined to adopt the transcatheter mitral valve edge-to-edge repair (TEER) for treatment. Before the surgery execution, the expert team conducted multiple rounds of strategy discussions and plan rehearsals针对 the patient's complex AFMR lesions. The surgery proceeded smoothly, with immediate postoperative regurgitation reduced to 1+, and the transvalvular pressure gradient was only 2mmHg.
“
After the surgery, the local senior valve interventional experts who participated in the surgery gave high praise to the clinical performance of DragonFly™:
"DragonFly™ has demonstrated high stability in handling complex lesions. The device is designed to be controllable and safe, providing strong support for operators dealing with complex lesions through its flexible handling experience. This also means that local patients (in Brazil) will have more treatment options."
The successful commercial implantation of the first DragonFly™ device in Brazil not only validates its excellent adaptability to the anatomical structures of diverse populations across different regions but also lays a solid foundation for Valgen Medtech's deeper engagement in the Latin American market.
In 2026, Valgen Medtech's globalization步伐 is becoming increasingly坚定. From Vietnam to Brazil, Valgen Medtech is not only continuously delivering safe and effective solutions but also crossing geographical and cultural boundaries, standing shoulder to shoulder with surgeons worldwide. Providing high-quality "life repair" for patients around the world remains the unwavering初心 of Valgen Medtech’s globalization journey.
