Over the past year, domestic companies specializing in organoids and organ-on-a-chip technologies have attracted significant attention from the capital market, with continuous financing events. Meanwhile, the industry has begun to enter the “2.0 era” of technological development and application, pursuing high-throughput, standardization, automation, and integration with other technologies.
This year, the domestic fields of organoids and organ-on-a-chip technology present many promising developments. As these technologies strive to demonstrate their value and significance, several core challenges remain urgent to address. For instance, as organoid and organ-on-a-chip technologies continue to be integrated into pharmaceutical companies’ drug development pipelines, further exploration is warranted in areas such as industrialization, scaling, upstream and downstream resource integration, and commercialization. Meanwhile, with the regulatory framework for Laboratory Developed Tests (LDTs) becoming increasingly clear, a compliant business model for clinical drug screening services is gradually taking shape. Key issues deserving further consideration include how to deepen collaborations with hospitals and resolve reimbursement challenges.
