On May 9, 2023, Jiangxi Provincial People’s Hospital (The First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang Medical University) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Baidu Health. The two parties will collaborate on the “Precision Empowerment for Specific Diseases” project to upgrade the digital specialty construction at Jiangxi Provincial People’s Hospital, while further expanding the reach of medical services through the internet to enhance patients’ sense of gain and healthcare experience within the region. Hong Lang, Vice President of Jiangxi Provincial People’s Hospital and President of Jiangxi Provincial Cardiovascular Hospital, and Zhang Kuan, Dean of Baidu Health Internet Hospital, attended the signing ceremony. The event was presided over by Xu Renxu, Member of the Party Committee of Jiangxi Provincial People’s Hospital and Vice Dean of the Clinical Medical College of Nanchang Medical University. In 2021, the General Office of the State Council issued the "Opinions on Promoting High-Quality Development of Public Hospitals," which explicitly stated that "the supporting role of informatization should be strengthened to promote the deep integration of next-generation information technology with medical services." The strategic cooperation between Jiangxi Provincial People's Hospital and Baidu Health will leverage Baidu Health’s "Precision Doctor-Patient Matching Engine" and integrate technologies such as AI and big data to create a digital entry point for specific diseases at Jiangxi Provincial People's Hospital. This initiative will achieve precise online matching between patients with specific conditions and hospital specialties, thereby not only streamlining the patient care journey but also enhancing the efficiency of allocating high-quality medical resources. The initial phase of the collaboration will focus on key disciplines at Jiangxi Provincial People's Hospital, including cardiology, neurology, and gastroenterology, while further deepening internet-based medical services. Patients will be able to access convenient medical services through Baidu App’s smart mini-programs, including appointment registration, report inquiries, and online consultations.
Hong Lang provided a brief overview of the hospital’s development and its progress in digital and intelligent transformation. He stated that, with the advancement of information technology and continuous support from national policies, “digital and intelligent healthcare” has become a key driver for implementing tiered diagnosis and treatment systems and promoting high-quality hospital development. Leveraging its strengths in informatization, Jiangxi Provincial People’s Hospital has been committed to building a smart and intelligent hospital. After years of exploration, it has established a distinctive smart operational development system, created an integrated, end-to-end interoperable platform, and developed an online-offline integrated medical service model covering pre-diagnosis, during-diagnosis, and post-diagnosis stages.Jiangxi Provincial People’s Hospital has joined forces with Baidu to launch the “Precision Empowerment for Specific Diseases” project and held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony. As the first implementation of this project in Jiangxi Province, this collaboration aims to provide better medical services to patients in need and represents a significant step forward in the hospital’s “digital transformation” journey. It is believed that this fruitful partnership will help the hospital further expand the reach of its medical services through the internet, enhance patients’ sense of gain and healthcare experience within the region, and establish this collaborative project as a benchmark for “Internet + Healthcare” in Jiangxi Province.
