Roche Agrees to Acquire PathAI for $750 Million, Adding AI-Powered Digital Pathology Capabilities

On May 7, Roche announced that it had signed a definitive merger agreement to acquire PathAI, Inc. PathAI, Inc. is a U.S.-based company focused on digital pathology and providing artificial intelligence technology for pathology laboratories and the biopharmaceutical industry. The transaction is expected to be completed in the second half of this year, at which time the acquired entity will become part of Roche Diagnostics. Under the terms of the agreement, Roche will pay an upfront payment of $750 million, along with up to $300 million in additional milestone payments.
