CDMOs have emerged as a hot trend in China’s pharmaceutical services and supply chain sector in recent years. An increasing number of CROs are actively transitioning toward the CDMO model, while manufacturers of biosimilars and pharmaceutical companies are also gearing up to enter the market. The CDMO landscape is becoming increasingly crowded.

Against the broader backdrop of the pharmaceutical industry, the rise of CDMOs in recent years is by no means without precedent. Since 2022, China’s pharmaceutical sector has been experiencing a “capital winter,” with investors adopting a wait-and-see approach and liquidity in the market declining. In response, biotech companies have had no choice but to conserve their cash reserves and opt for R&D pathways that are lower in cost and risk. CDMOs, which offer outsourced R&D and manufacturing services, have thus become a popular choice.

How to Stand Out in China’s CDMO Sector: Chime Biologics Chooses to Build a New Commercial Ecosystem Platform. “The risks and interests of biotech companies and CDMOs are entirely different. However, to make biotech companies feel that we can address their pain points, our business model must change,” said Wei Jianzhong, President of Chime Biologics.“The core of our business lies in understanding the pain points of each pharmaceutical enterprise. Under the new pricing model, we no longer charge simply on a per-order basis; instead, we share risks with biotech companies.”

Dr. Wei Jianzhong introduced that this ecosystem will provide pharmaceutical companies with venture capital funds supporting corporate management and commercialization, a global business development (BD) platform, and talent resources, as well as a drug discovery platform, a Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) animal testing platform, biologics contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) services, clinical trial platforms, and government regulatory resources to support pipeline research and development.

The event comprises two main segments: a celebration ceremony and a forum.

At the start of the event,Li Shiting, Chief Engineer of the Administrative Committee of East Lake High-Tech Development Zone, WuhanInvited to deliver a promotional presentation for the Optics Valley Bio-City in Donghu District.Dan Changchun, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the 14th Wuhan Municipal People’s Congress, Deputy Head and Director of the Office of the Wuhan Leading Group for the Big Health and Biotechnology Industry; Yan Zhongning, Member of the Decision-Making Advisory Committee of the Wuhan Municipal People’s GovernmentTwelve guests, including [Name], participated in the launch ceremony of the celebration.
