May 7,LuoShiAnnounced the acquisition of U.S.-basedAI CompanyPathAIThe latter is a company focused on digital pathology and AI technology for the pathology laboratory and biopharmaceutical industries.
This acquisition further deepens the partnership between Roche and PathAI, which was initially established in 2021 and expanded into the field of AI-assisted diagnostic algorithm development in 2024. Prior to the expected transaction completion in the second half of this year, the acquired entity will continue to operate as part of the diagnostics division.

According to the terms of the agreement,Roche will make a one-time payment of $750 million for the acquisition and an additional payment of up to $300 million in milestone payments.
This acquisition strengthens Roche's position in the field of digital pathology, driving the industry's transition from manual operations to fully automated AI processes. By generating high-resolution digital images of tissue sections, digital pathology enables pathologists to streamline diagnoses using AI tools, helping patients receive test results more quickly.
