On May 27, the First Cell Biopharmaceutical Technology and Industry Development Forum was held in the Baoshan High-Tech Zone in Shanghai. Themed “Forging New Momentum in Cell Technology to Fully Support Baoshan’s Northern Transformation,” the forum brought together leaders and experts from government, academia, research institutions, healthcare, and business sectors to discuss R&D progress in the cell industry and explore emerging trends in its future development.
Han Zhongchao, Member of the French Academy of Sciences and Academia Europaea, Director of the National Engineering Research Center for Stem Cell Technology, and Chief Scientist of Han’s United; Fu Xiaobing, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Foreign Associate of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, Dean of the School of Life Sciences at the PLA General Hospital, and Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; Georges UZAN, Member of the French National Academy of Medicine and Director of the Institute 972 of the French National Academy of Medicine; Shi Yufang, Member of Academia Europaea and Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Stem Cells and Biomedical Materials; as well as representatives from relevant commissions, offices, and bureaus of Baoshan District and the Management Committee of Baoshan High-Tech Park attended the forum.

Liu Huibin, Director of the Administrative Committee of Baoshan High-Tech Zone, stated that the park has been deeply engaged in the biomedical industry for many years, initially establishing specialized industrial clusters in medical devices, biotechnology, and new healthcare services. This has created a brand effect both in Shanghai and across China, with industrial competitiveness gradually becoming more prominent. Cell-based biomedicine represents the forefront of biotechnology and is a key technology concerning public health. Shanghai Sinovant Life Health Technology Co., Ltd. signed industry-academia-research and financial cooperation agreements with the Heart and Brain Science Laboratory of the Business School at East China University of Science and Technology, the School of Materials Engineering at Shanghai University of Engineering Science, Shanghai Normal University, Zhongke Ruiji, and the Baoshan Sub-branch of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.
Experts from academia, industry, healthcare, capital, and law convened to focus on the fields of biopharmaceuticals and intelligent diagnostics. They jointly explored the opportunities and challenges facing the industry, as well as future industrial layout and investment directions, contributing their expertise to sci-tech innovation in Baoshan and presenting attendees with an academic feast on cellular biopharmaceuticals.
