VB-Link Neurology City Challenge Successfully Concludes in Hangzhou with 19 Projects Competing for Top Honors
On June 17, 2023, the VB-Link Future Healthcare Specialty Innovation Solutions Challenge – Neurology City Round, co-hosted by VCBeat and Fenghuanggu Medical, was successfully held in Hangzhou! The event brought together 19 neurology projects from fields such as AI-driven brain science, brain-computer interfaces, medical devices, and drug R&D, which presented their pitches in succession to compete for three major awards: the Most Commercially Valuable Award, the Most Innovative Potential Award, and the Best Development Exploration Award.
Against this backdrop, the Future Medical Specialty Innovation Solutions Challenge (VB-Link Competition) was launched. The VB-Link Neurology City Competition received registrations from over 30 neurology projects, with 19 projects advancing to the city-level round. Participants included hospital professors, leading industry talents, and high-quality innovation cases from major universities. The projects that advanced to the city competition covered a diverse range of cutting-edge fields, including stroke, neural interventional procedures, brain-computer interfaces, and brain organoids.
This competition attracted Qiu Shi Distinguished Professors from Zhejiang University,Chief Physician, The Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine,Clinical experts and scholars, including chief physicians from Zhejiang Provincial Tongde Hospital and senior engineers from the Zhejiang Institute of Medical Device Testing, along with ten distinguished judges from institutions such as Biogen Medical, CAS Star, and Hetang Venture Capital, participated in the review.
At the outset of the competition, Chang Tingting, Partner at Qiushi Capital and CEO of Fenghuanggu Medical, delivered the opening remarks. Ms. Chang noted that, as a co-organizer of the event, Fenghuanggu Medical provides tailored entrepreneurial services aligned with the various stages of startup development. She expressed that Qiushi Capital and Fenghuanggu Medical look forward to working alongside entrepreneurs to compose a vibrant new chapter in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Subsequently, representatives from each participating project delivered compelling pitch presentations. Ten senior experts and leading figures from the neurology industry served as judges, evaluating the projects across six dimensions: completeness of the business plan, team background, project innovation, market operations, distinctive advantages, and on-site Q&A performance, thereby providing professional insights for both the competition and the projects. Ultimately, the awards were conferred as follows: six projects received the Most Commercially Valuable Award, seven received the Most Innovative Exploration Award, and six received the Most Promising Potential Award. Notably, the six projects and teams honored with the Most Commercially Valuable Award advanced directly to the VB-Link Competition Grand Finals.
The VB-Link Future Healthcare Specialty Innovation Solutions Challenge is hosted by VB100 and VCBeat, co-hosted by Zhongguancun Development Group and the Administrative Committee of Tianjin Binhai–Zhongguancun Science Park, and co-organized by institutions such as Furong Laboratory and the Intellectual Property Center of Central South University. It has also received strong support from nearly 50 leading venture capital firms, multinational corporations, and innovation centers.
The inaugural competition featured four specialty tracks: ophthalmology, neurology, cardiology, and oncology. City-level competitions were successfully held in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, and Hangzhou. The grand finals, together with the VB-Link Conference, will be held in Tianjin on June 28–29. Stay tuned.
