Digital healthcare, a novel medical model that integrates digital technology with the healthcare sector, is regarded as an “innovative prescription” for addressing the challenges of traditional healthcare systems. Digital healthcare is experiencing rapid development; as of November 2022, China’s central government had issued a total of 59 policies related to digital healthcare in 2022. In addition to strong policy support, regulatory approval and oversight for digital healthcare have also accelerated. 2022 marked the year with the highest number of approvals for both Class III AI medical devices and digital therapeutics medical devices. Overall, digital healthcare is largely in its early stages of robust growth, offering substantial market potential and room for innovation.
Taking the digital therapeutics industry as an example, current innovators and entrepreneurs primarily face the following challenges and needs: a need to understand local industrial policies and business environments; guidance on principles for developing digital therapeutic products and assistance in establishing commercial channels; requirements for compliant software registration and clinical validation; guidelines for the secure and compliant use of medical big data; and crucial financing needs for corporate growth. Clearly, “policy support,” “product planning,” and “clinical opportunities” are three essential elements for digital therapeutics companies. The concentration of the “digital economy” within the industrial ecosystem and the strength of “talent support” provide greater attractiveness for enterprises when making their final location decisions.
The Digital Healthcare Pioneer Industry Community Program addresses the aforementioned critical concerns and needs by convening core industry resources, including relevant municipal and district government agencies, clinical partner hospitals, research institutes, industry associations, service providers, and investment firms. The program aims to help entrepreneurs identify and resolve challenges, positioning itself as a fast track for the growth of digital healthcare enterprises.

This Digital Healthcare Pioneer Industry Community Program is hosted by the Suzhou Digital Medical Innovation Consortium, co-organized by Hainan Joint Medical Research and Trial Development Co., Ltd. and the Foresight Entrepreneurship Growth Research Center, and professionally guided by the Digital Therapeutics Professional Committee of the China Association for Promotion of Rehabilitation Technology Transformation and Development.
