Beijing LifeScience ParkInstitute of Biotechnology

Beijing Life Science Park Biotechnology Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the “Institute”) (Biobank of Life Science Park, abbreviated as “BoLSP”) is a third-party public service platform for biobanking, jointly supported by the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission and Zhongguancun Life Science Park. Building on over a decade of development achievements of the Beijing Biobank of Clinical Resources (hereinafter referred to as the “Beijing Biobank”) (BBCR) and consolidating professional consensus among numerous clinical sample experts, the Institute is committed to serving as a bridge between holders of biological sample resources and researchers in the fields of life sciences and biomedical research, thereby addressing issues such as information asymmetry across the upstream and downstream sectors of biological sample resource development and difficulties in resource sharing.

The Institute has established a 2,000 m² biobank at the Changping Campus of Zhongguancun Life Science Park in Beijing, with a maximum storage capacity of 10 million samples. Adhering to the CNAS-CL10:2020 “Accreditation Criteria for Quality and Competence of Biobanks,” and integrating lessons learned from the past decade of operations at the Beijing Biobank, the Institute has developed a comprehensive quality management system for biospecimen preservation. This system achieves thorough quality control throughout the biospecimen preservation process by addressing multiple dimensions, including personnel, equipment, materials, methods, environment, and monitoring. The Institute has successfully passed the on-site inspection for the “Administrative License for Preservation of Human Genetic Resources” conducted by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, as well as the on-site assessment by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS).
