Eligible Participants
Areas of Focus:Interventional Oncology,Hemodialysis,Urology, with a focus on lung tumors, breast tumors, vascular access disorders, and urolithiasis.and related complications.
Technologies to Watch:Ablation Therapy, Minimally Invasive Intervention/Implantation, New Materials, Monitoring Systemsemerging technologies and new directions.
Eligibility Criteria
- Physicians, engineers, academic researchers, entrepreneurs, and business professionals;
- At least 3 years of work and R&D experience in related fields;
- Possess an innovative spirit and a strong sense of teamwork, with a willingness to devote personal time to the journey of innovation.
Fellowship Arrangement
Objective:Through innovative training, brainstorming, in-depth clinical immersion, and experimental validation, gain a comprehensive understanding of the Biodesign medical technology innovation framework, immerse yourself in an innovative atmosphere, and spark creative ideas.
Time:September 2023 – January 2024 (Weekends)
Location:Shanghai · Zhangjiang Science City

1. Form cross-functional teams comprising medical, engineering, and business professionals to conduct brainstorming sessions and spark innovative ideas;
2. One-on-one mentorship to identify clinical needs, conduct market research, and initiate project studies;
3. Demo Day Graduation Pitch and Excellence Awards.

Biodesign Innovation System

Professor Song Chengli, Chief Scientist & Senior Gold Mentor of the HiMed Platform
Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, Oriental Scholar, and Official Chinese Translator for Biodesign. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Cardiff University, UK, and serves as a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Dundee. Upon returning to China, he joined the School of Medical Devices and Food at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, where he oversees the work of the Ministry of Education’s Engineering Research Center for Modern Minimally Invasive Medical Devices and Technologies, serving as its Executive Deputy Director. He has successfully incubated multiple medical innovation projects and secured financing for them.
BD-HiMed Joint MedTech Acceleration Partnership Platform

BD-HiMed Joint Medical Innovation Acceleration Platform is equipped with globally leading laboratory equipment and simulation environments, serving as an innovative space that integrates clinical practice and engineering. In the future, it will empower BD’s partners and assist clinical experts in translating scientific research achievements into practical applications. Meanwhile, leveraging multidisciplinary training programs offered by the training center, the platform facilitates close interaction between clinical experts and engineering teams, enabling R&D teams to promptly and thoroughly grasp clinical feedback. This enhances the efficiency and quality of product development, fosters more source-innovative solutions, and better serves local market demands.
