Recently, Shanghai Shu Zhi Dao Robotics (hereinafter referred to as “Shu Zhi Dao”) announced that its independently developed hair transplantation robot has successfully completed the enrollment of multiple patients in consecutive cases at Hangzhou First People’s Hospital, Affiliated to Zhejiang University School of Medicine.The successful completion of the series of clinical enrollments not only marks another step forward for the Shu Zhi Dao hair transplant robot on the path to regulatory approval, with the potential to break the void in domestically produced alternatives, but also brings an intelligent, automated, safe, and efficient solution to hair transplant treatment.

 

It is reported that the patients enrolled in this study had all been suffering from hair loss for many years. Scalp examinations and follicular analysis revealed that their primary areas of hair loss were concentrated at the vertex and bilateral frontal regions, consistent with the characteristics of Androgenetic Alopecia. According to the Hamilton-Norwood classification system for hair loss, all patients were currently at Stage II. Based on the diagnostic findings, the physicians performed robot-assisted hair transplantation surgery on the patients.

 

Results from multiple registration clinical trials conducted with the Shu Zhi Dao Hair Transplant Robot demonstrated a favorable safety profile, with no related adverse reactions or adverse events (AEs) associated with the hair transplant robot. The data obtained from these registration clinical trials will be used to evaluate the safety and efficacy of this system for hair transplantation in individuals with hair loss, through multicenter, randomized, blinded clinical trials.
