6th Medical League - Retracing Xuanzang's Journey Successfully Concluded in Guazhou, Gansu

From September 8 to 12, the 6th “Medical League · Retracing Xuanzang’s Journey” was grandly held in Guazhou, China (Gobi Qingquan). Thousands of healthcare professionals from across the country gathered in the Gobi Desert to embark on a journey from the “heart,” joining hands to challenge an 81-kilometer trek. They traversed and experienced diverse landscapes, including deserts, Gobi terrain, and canyons, to reflect on and inherit the spirit of Xuanzang.

The Medical League is a cultural experience competition that brings together elites in the health sector for deep engagement. Initiated by Beijing Souyao Information Consulting Co., Ltd. in response to the "Healthy China" initiative, it is founded on the original aspiration of "healthcare professionals achieving wellness first, thereby leading more people toward better health," with "Getting Healthy" as its core value.

Over the past six years, the event has built an efficient platform for diverse brand showcases, team building, and business networking through innovative content design and scenario-based connectivity. By strengthening connections and fostering deep interaction, it aims to provide participants with a more professional, engaging, and value-driven experience that supports personal growth and spiritual enrichment.

To implement the core requirements of the “Healthy China 2030” Planning Outline, which places people’s health at the center, promotes universal participation, contribution, and benefit, emphasizes prevention, advocates healthy lifestyles, and aims to achieve health for all, this edition of the Medical Industry League adopts the theme “Moving Toward the Heart.” Drawing on the spirit of Xuanzang and guided by the principles of “Dream, Action, Perseverance, and Transcendence,” the event enables participants to experience the natural allure and profound cultural heritage of the desert and Gobi regions, engage in self-reflection, reconnect with their original aspirations, and deeply appreciate the value and significance of walking. It also helps them recognize the importance of health for both individuals and enterprises. As healthcare professionals dedicated to serving public health, they should take the lead in advocating and practicing healthy lifestyles.

At the opening ceremony, Ruan Hongxian, Honorary Chairman of the event, introduced that this edition of the Medical League has been refined, innovated, and upgraded in terms of venue, rules, activities, and scenarios. In addition to the main hiking competition, which tests participants’ willpower, a variety of recreational activities have been introduced, including a healthy lifestyle exhibition, bonfire party, stove-side tea brewing, Gobi hotpot banquet, disc golf, and the “King’s Summit” challenge, all designed to enhance the participant experience. He also expressed his wishes for the competitors to push their physical limits and discover a better version of themselves through the three-day, two-night Gobi Desert hiking challenge. He encouraged them to reflect on entrepreneurship, business management, and life itself during the trek, fostering mind-body harmony, building deep friendships, and embodying the spirit of courage, perseverance, persistence, and breakthrough.

Xie Zilong, Chairman of the Medical League and Chairman of Laobaixing Pharmacy Group, delivered a video address. He stated that the Medical League serves as the ultimate proving ground for team building, profoundly enhancing and forging teams’ strategic, leadership, tactical, organizational, and execution capabilities. It also elevates team spirit, cohesion, and combat effectiveness, thereby significantly promoting corporate growth and development. Xie Zilong noted that this year’s Medical League has undergone comprehensive improvements, innovations, and upgrades in venues, rules, activities, and scenarios, which he believes will provide participants with a better experience and greater rewards.

Guo Yazhou, Executive Chairman of the Medical League Competition and Chairman of Beijing Souyao Information Consulting Co., Ltd., stated in his address that retracing Xuanzang’s path was a challenge to both oneself and team collaboration. Over the course of three days, every “Ge You” (Gobi Desert hiker) experienced fatigue, struggle, and perseverance, demonstrating extraordinary resilience and courage. He remarked that steadfastness in adversity and the pursuit of self-transcendence are among the outstanding qualities of pharmaceutical professionals. In the face of difficulties and challenges, everyone consistently maintained a positive and optimistic attitude, pressing forward with courage and continually surpassing their limits. He emphasized that sports not only benefit physical health but also foster teamwork and a competitive spirit. He expressed the hope that this spirit of unity, collaboration, and hard work would be sustained and integrated into daily life and professional practice. Guo Yazhou added that the Medical League would continuously improve and innovate to build an industry platform with greater value and influence.

In addition, the event provided a platform for pharmaceutical and healthcare companies in Gansu Province to showcase and promote their products.

Su Qinchuan, a specially appointed expert of the Gansu Pharmaceutical and Health Industry Development Association, stated that out of the six editions of the Medical League Competition, five were held in Gansu Province. This provided an opportunity for pharmaceutical and health enterprises in Gansu to enhance exchanges and foster cooperation with their counterparts across China. In the future, the Gansu Pharmaceutical and Health Industry Development Association will continue to actively promote the co-construction and sharing of resources between Gansu’s pharmaceutical and health industry and the Medical League Competition. It aims to engage in in-depth exchanges, connections, and cooperation with peers from all sectors nationwide, jointly advancing the high-quality development of the pharmaceutical and health industry and contributing to the “Healthy China” initiative.
