Thulium laser, commonly known as the 2-micron laser, entered the medical field in 2004 for soft tissue cutting due to its physical property of high absorption by human soft and hard tissues as well as water. It has been defined as the “gold standard” for bladder tumor resection, replacing traditional electrocautery knives. Baijian Jiayi is the only domestic manufacturer of thulium laser treatment systems with independent intellectual property rights for all-solid-state thulium lasers. Senior Scientist at the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences; core member of the National 863 Program’s Solid-State Thulium Laser Project. Possesses over 30 years of experience in laser R&D and more than 10 years of experience in commercialization. Graduated from Tianjin University in 1985; sent by the Chinese government to Germany to study laser technology. Since returning to China in 1989, has been engaged in the applied research and development of medical lasers. Currently a member of SPIE (the international society for optics and photonics).

Led the development of China’s first medical semiconductor laser, medical green laser, and medical thulium laser, which successively obtained relevant qualifications and were approved for market launch in 2003, 2005, and 2012, respectively. From 2013 to 2019, conducted in-depth research on medical thulium lasers and achieved significant progress, with new technologies breaking foreign monopolies. In 2019, completed China’s first medical thulium laser therapeutic system with independent intellectual property rights.

In 2019, Baijian Jiayi (Ningbo) Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Baijian Jiayi”) began focusing on the research and development of thulium laser with fully independent intellectual property rights.

After years of exploration and breakthroughs, Baijian Jiayi pioneered the resonant cavity-based pulsed thulium laser output, achieving a peak power exceeding 30,000 W (compared to the current international maximum of approximately 1,000 W). Furthermore, Baijian Jiayi is the only manufacturer in China with independent intellectual property rights for all-solid-state thulium lasers used in thulium laser therapeutic systems.
