2023 FTC 'Innovating for the Heart' – Call for Cardiovascular Innovation Case Submissions

In the field of medicine, the heart has always been a vital organ of the human body. This fist-sized powerhouse contains boundless vitality. For centuries, generations of medical practitioners have pursued innovation, dedicating themselves to saving the lives of patients with heart disease. The history of cardiac surgery resembles a turbulent journey of exploration, evolving from the initially terrifying attempts at open-heart procedures to today’s world-leading high-end technologies and advanced therapeutic methods. This history is akin to a “Heart Path,” which took root in the most humble soil, grew with resilience, and ultimately shines with brilliant radiance.


In recent years, numerous cutting-edge technologies have emerged in the field of cardiac surgery, such as interventional procedures, artificial hearts, and gene therapy. The development of these technologies has provided more treatment options for patients with heart disease and brought about broad market prospects. To promote the research, development, and application of frontier technologies in cardiac surgery and to facilitate the industrialization of scientific research achievements, the Cardiovascular Engineering Technology and Engineering Branch of the China Biopharmaceutical Technology Association, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, and VCBeat have jointly initiated“Pushing Out the Old, Bringing Forth the ‘Heart’”: Call for Entries in the Technology Transfer Roadshow. We are widely soliciting case studies of technological innovation in cardiovascular care from outstanding projects across all types and levels of medical institutions, medical device companies, healthcare service providers, and specialized colleges within the cardiovascular field. These cases will be thoroughly analyzed to examine their methodologies, implementation pathways, and outcomes, with the aim of summarizing best practices.

2Scope of Call for Submissions

Nationwide solicitation of outstanding domestic and international candidates from research institutes, universities, clinical settings, enterprises, etc.Case Studies on Cutting-Edge Technologies in Cardiac Surgery, including but not limited to hotspots for innovation such as cardiovascular ultrasound imaging, cardiac pacemakers, drug-coated coronary balloons, artificial hearts, and stents.


3Call for Submissions

1. Cases submitted for consideration should demonstrate innovation, practicality, and broad market prospects;

2. Submit case studies focusing on innovations in cutting-edge technologies, devices, or materials within the cardiovascular field, including:Case Summary, Problem Solved, Team Overview, Key Technologies, Market Prospects, and Commercialization Progressetc.

Top Expert InteractionThe Organizing Committee will match and invite corresponding clinical experts, the most influential early-stage investors in the industry, and heads of translation at incubators and innovation centers to conduct reviews based on project types. The finally selected projects will have face-to-face interactions with experts at the 5th FTC Frontier Technologies Forum in Cardiac Surgery in 2023.
