The heart is the “engine” of the human body and one of its most vital organs. Once this engine ceases to function, it can lead to systemic failure or even complete collapse. How to maintain normal cardiac function, and how to repair or even replace the heart through surgical interventions, remain areas of ongoing exploration and research.
Humanity continually advances through breakthroughs and innovation, and the field of cardiac surgery is no exception. Cardiovascular specialists, guided by a spirit of exploration and continuous learning, have risen to challenges and driven repeated breakthroughs and innovations in the field of heart and great vessel diseases. Aortic aneurysms, once incurable, are now routinely treated with standard surgical procedures. It is precisely this pioneering spirit of exploration—from nothing to something—that has propelled the development of cardiovascular medicine to its current state.
To collect more cases of rare surgical treatments related to the heart and great vessels, organize expert teams for in-depth discussions, better share and disseminate diagnostic and treatment experiences, further enhance the clinical capabilities of physicians, ensure that more patients receive correct diagnosis and treatment, and promote further development in the field of cardiac and great vessel diseases, the Cardiovascular Technology and Engineering Branch of the China Biopharmaceutical Technology Association, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, and the First Affiliated Hospital of the University of Science and Technology of China (Anhui Provincial Hospital) have jointly initiated this effort.Call for Case Studies on Rare Cardiac Surgical ProceduresWe are soliciting rare cardiovascular surgical case reports from specialists in cardiology and cardiac surgery, radiologists, and sonographers across China. Each rare surgical case deserves meticulous documentation and sharing; these are precious clinical achievements that stand as milestones in clinical medicine and serve as beacons guiding more patients toward appropriate medical care.
