Major New Product Launches Lead the Way into a New Era of Precision Diagnosis and Treatment for Critical Diseases

At this year’s China International Import Expo (CIIE), Siemens Healthineers unveiled several revolutionary new products making their global or Chinese debuts, empowering precision diagnosis and treatment of cancer and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases through breakthrough innovations.

Siemens Healthineers' World's First Ultra-High-Performance Whole-Body 3T MRI: MAGNETOM Cima.X1Introducing the groundbreaking “Twin Star” gradient system, which elevates whole-body clinical imaging performance to unprecedented levels with a maximum gradient strength of 200 mT/m and a maximum slew rate of 200 T/m/s. Compared to conventional clinical 3T MRI systems, its gradient performance is four to five times higher, setting a new standard for top-tier research-grade MRI. In oncology, this equipment enables users to achieve pathology-level measurements of cellular morphology and density, significantly enhancing the accuracy of qualitative diagnosis and grading of early-stage tumors. In neuroscience, it facilitates research into brain microstructures such as neuronal axons, holding promise for further elucidating the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, and advancing brain science into the mesoscopic microscale.

● Siemens Healthineers' World's First "Mobile" CT Scanner: SOMATOM On.site2ItCompact and lightweight, the system can be easily wheeled into patient rooms and operating theaters, enabling bedside head CT scans. Compared with traditional transport to the radiology department for CT imaging, the use of SOMATOM On.site reduces transport time by approximately 75%, effectively avoiding treatment delays or secondary injuries caused by patient transfer, and significantly improving the efficiency and outcomes of emergency care for critically ill patients with stroke, traumatic brain injury, or brain tumors. Its innovative nut-shell-style gantry with integrated radiation shielding and lead curtains provide dual-layer radiation protection, ensuring that both patients and healthcare providers are protected from radiation exposure throughout the examination. In addition, SOMATOM On.site offers precise intraoperative navigation, enabling physicians to rapidly manage severe traumatic brain injury and polytrauma cases.

The Best 178-ps TOF Ultra-High-Performance PET/CT: Biograph Vision.X3Pushing the boundaries of industry limits, we have achieved a time resolution at the 170-picosecond level for the first time, offering a 7.5-fold performance gain in clinical settings. Time-of-Flight (TOF) technology is the core component of PET/CT systems, and its performance critically impacts image accuracy, acquisition speed, and radiation dosage in PET/CT imaging. For patients with advanced metastatic cancer or those who are not surgical candidates, integrated radionuclide diagnosis and therapy can provide a lifeline. In this era of integrated radionuclide diagnosis and therapy, the clinical value of 178-ps TOF PET/CT spans the entire lifecycle of tumor management—from disease diagnosis, patient selection, and postoperative verification to treatment efficacy assessment and follow-up—offering more precise diagnostic and therapeutic solutions for patients with advanced or complex tumors.

Revolutionizing Interventional Procedures for Structural Heart Disease: The All-New 4D Volumetric Intracardiac Echocardiography Catheter — ACUSON AcuNav Volume 4D ICE Catheter4It is a pioneering innovative device in the field of structural heart disease. Leveraging advantages such as zero radiation, no need for general anesthesia, and real-time visualization, it guides physicians in performing interventional procedures including valve repair and replacement or left atrial appendage closure. By enabling real-time monitoring throughout the procedure, it helps reduce complications and improve surgical success rates and efficiency, positioning it as the optimal guidance tool for interventional procedures in structural heart disease. Given the rapid development of interventional therapies for structural heart disease, this technology holds vast application prospects.

The World's First Quantum Spectral Angiography System: ARTIS icono ceiling5Grounded in innovation, it has achieved numerous breakthroughs in clinical applications: overcoming the “spatiotemporal” limitations of traditional equipment to enable 3D whole-body scanning and reconstruction during free breathing; enhancing precision to the submillimeter level to safeguard refined tumor treatment; and reconstructing the imaging chain based on big data and artificial intelligence to ensure consistently clear images while intelligently adjusting X-ray energy spectra to effectively reduce radiation levels, thereby ushering in a new era of precision oncology.

Riding the “CIIE Tailwind” to Drive High-Quality Development of Medical Technology

The China International Import Expo (CIIE) serves not only as a showcase platform for corporate innovation but also as a powerful engine accelerating the commercialization of innovative achievements. Over the past six years, the CIIE’s “spillover effect,” which has continued to amplify, has enabled numerous Siemens Healthineers exhibits to transition from prototypes to marketable products, and further into blockbuster successes. Taking NAEOTOM Alpha, the world’s first photon-counting CT scanner, as an example, its semiconductor detector-based photon-counting CT technology made its global debut at the 4th CIIE in 2021. The following year, NAEOTOM Alpha entered the National Medical Products Administration’s (NMPA) Special Review Procedure for Medical Devices (also known as the Green Innovation Channel), and completed its Asian premiere with a physical unit on display at the 5th CIIE in 2022. Currently, domestic testing of NAEOTOM Alpha has been completed at Peking Union Medical College Hospital and Ruijin Hospital affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. In mid-October 2023, it officially received approval from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for market launch in China. At the 6th CIIE, Siemens Healthineers will comprehensively showcase the extensive clinical applications and scientific research achievements of NAEOTOM Alpha.

Wang Hao, President of Siemens Healthineers Greater China, stated, “The China International Import Expo (CIIE) serves as a window for China to build its new development paradigm and injects strong momentum into the innovative development of the healthcare industry. As many global innovations accelerate their market entry and implementation in China through the CIIE, and as local partnerships continue to deepen, Siemens Healthineers will continuously enhance its engagement in China’s cutting-edge clinical research and primary healthcare systems. In the future, we will actively collaborate with partners to promote the construction of China’s innovation ecosystem, contributing our expertise and efforts to the high-quality development of medical technology in China and the advancement of the ‘Healthy China’ initiative.”
