Recently, DPM (including Beijing Digital Precision Medical Technology Co., Ltd. and Zhuhai Dipu Medical Technology Co., Ltd.) announced the successful completion of its Series C financing round, raising over RMB 200 million. The round was led by Daohe Zhiyi, with participation from Hyfinity Investments and Yunqi Investment. China Renaissance served as the exclusive financial advisor.
Prior to this, DPM had successfully attracted investment from several renowned institutions, including SoftBank China, Zhongguancun Longmen Investment, and Gree Financial Investment. It also established a deep strategic partnership with Johnson & Johnson China to jointly drive the company’s further development in the integrated precision diagnostics and therapeutics market. This new round of financing not only injects ample capital and resources into the company, enabling DPM to enhance its product innovation capabilities, expand its market influence, and achieve more rapid growth in the fields of molecular imaging and fluorescence endoscopy, but also fully demonstrates the market’s strong recognition of the company’s development potential.
As an enterprise incubated by the CAS Key Laboratory of Molecular Imaging, DPM has successfully achieved the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements through the capitalization of intellectual property rights. Leveraging the laboratory’s robust reserves of cutting-edge technologies, DPM independently develops and manufactures a serialized portfolio of fluorescence molecular imaging products, including fluorescence endoscopic camera systems, fluorescence molecular imagers, and near-infrared fluorescence imaging systems. Furthermore, the company is developing and planning a comprehensive suite of molecular imaging solutions, such as molecular imaging contrast agents and magnetic nanoparticle imaging equipment, thereby establishing itself as a leader in the field of molecular imaging technology.
With the continuous introduction of favorable policies and iterative product upgrades, domestic manufacturers of high-end endoscopes have entered a golden period of development to break foreign monopolies. DPM has established the most comprehensive product matrix of endoscopic camera systems in the industry, including the world’s first registered and launched optical 8-CMOS 3D 4K fluorescence endoscopic camera system in December 2022, the world’s first registered and launched 8K fluorescence endoscopic camera system in September 2023, as well as product matrices of 4K fluorescence endoscopic camera systems and white-light endoscopic camera systems. More than 20 products have been registered and launched, and the company has simultaneously obtained two EU CE certifications.
Leveraging the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ robust expertise in molecular imaging, DPM has emerged as an industry leader in the field of fluorescent endoscopy. Building on its earlier work under the National Ministry of Science and Technology’s Nanotechnology Special R&D Program, the company will further advance the research, development, and commercialization of molecular targeted probes compatible with fluorescent endoscopes. This effort aims to enhance the specificity of tumor diagnosis in clinical settings, providing reliable tools and methods for early and precise diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients. Supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China’s Major Research Instrument Program, the team has pioneered the international development of primate research equipment based on the nonlinear response of magnetic nanoparticles. With a detection sensitivity more than 1,000 times greater than that of conventional MRI systems, this technology will offer more precise in vivo diagnostic tools for future precision medicine. Moving forward, the DPM team will accelerate product translation and continue to deliver powerful tools and solutions for the broader health and precision screening sectors.
DPM’s independently developed products have undergone rigorous evidence-based, superiority-design clinical trials, demonstrating their clinical efficacy and safety, and have received special approval as innovative medical devices from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) and the Beijing Medical Products Administration. In 2021, DPM led the formulation of relevant technical standards in the industry and released China’s first two group standards in the field of fluorescence endoscopy: “Medical Endoscopes—Endoscope Function Supply Devices—Near-Infrared Fluorescence Imaging Systems” and “Medical Endoscopes—Endoscope Function Supply Devices—Cold Light Sources Containing Near-Infrared Excitation Light.” In 2023, the team spearheaded a collaborative effort with 14 institutions, including the Center for Medical Device Evaluation of the National Medical Products Administration, the National Institutes for Food and Drug Control, the Guangdong Provincial Institute for Medical Device Quality Supervision and Testing, Peking University People’s Hospital, and Peking Union Medical College Hospital, to jointly draft the “Specification for Image Quality Evaluation of Endoscopic Fluorescence Imaging Systems.”
DPM is the culmination of accumulated research from multiple major national projects. Its preliminary studies received support from key national special programs, including the National 973 Program, the Major Research Instrument Special Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Nanotechnology Special Project of the Ministry of Science and Technology. Furthermore, DPM led the Key Special Project on “Research and Development of Digital Diagnostic and Therapeutic Equipment” under the Ministry of Science and Technology, achieving significant breakthroughs in precise intraoperative imaging for liver cancer. DPM ranked first among the entities selected for the “Intelligent Auxiliary Treatment Products” category in the “Artificial Intelligence Medical Device Innovation Tasks” issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It also received key support from the National Development and Reform Commission’s Special Project on the Convergent Application of Biotechnology and Information Technology. In terms of core technologies, DPM has secured over 100 intellectual property rights, including US invention patents, PCT invention patents, Chinese invention patents, and software copyrights. Related achievements have been honored with numerous awards, such as the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the Second Prize of the National Technological Invention Award, the First Prize of the Huang Jiasi Scientific and Technological Progress Award from the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering, the Gold Medal at the 43rd International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, the Gold Medal at the 23rd China National Invention Exhibition, and the First Prize in the China Medical Device Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. Additionally, DPM was selected by the National Health Commission as one of the enterprises producing outstanding domestically manufactured endoscopes (Batch 8), won the Second Prize at the HCOOL 2022 Global Entrepreneurship Competition, was listed among the Top 100 Most Innovative Medical Device Products (Solutions) in 2023, and was recognized in the 2023 Future Healthcare 100 and the Top 10 Most Watched Enterprises.
