Recently, Genlight Neurotech (referred to as "GenLight") has completed a Series C round of financing worth hundreds of millions of yuan, with participation from multiple institutions such as Yufu Fund and CD Capital. The company’s valuation after this investment is close to 1 billion US dollars. In addition, the company has simultaneously completed its transformation from a "Limited Company" to a "Joint Stock Company," and its external brand name has been changed from "Jialiang Medical" to "GenLight."
It was revealed that the company's management team may raise another round of financing this year and plans to leverage the brain-computer interface trend to pursue an IPO next year.
Dr. Peng Cao, founder of GenLight, was born in 1986. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University, then pursued further studies at the French National Higher Institute of Aerodynamics and Université de Technologie de Compiègne, earning a Ph.D. from the Joint Laboratory of Biomedical and Biomechanics, with a research focus on magnetic resonance and brain science. After returning to China, he conducted postdoctoral research in the field of neurosurgical medical devices at Zhejiang University.

At the same time, his work experience is also quite extensive. He has served as a GE Healthcare scientist, participated in the establishment of the Imaging Pharmacokinetics Research Center, and also served as the CEO of Jianshi Biotech (listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2022), accumulating entrepreneurial experience from R&D, investment and financing to full-process management. In 2020, he founded GenLight (now renamed GenLight Neurotech) in Hangzhou.
GenLight is a platform enterprise focusing on the industrialization of cutting-edge technologies in brain science and neurosurgery. It is committed to providing minimally invasive and digital innovative device solutions for drug-resistant epilepsy, brain tumors, Parkinson's disease, and more. The company has established four core technology platforms: BCMod Brain-Computer Modulation Platform (implantable neuromodulation), Glaser Medical Laser Platform (minimally invasive ablation), Brain-Computer Chip Platform (neural signal acquisition and processing), and AI-Assisted Software Platform (surgical planning software).
Core Product Enters Key Commercialization Phase. Among them, LaserRO is the first China-approved brain MRI-guided laser ablation system (LITT) and was approved for marketing by the National Medical Products Administration in October 2025.

Another重磅product, Epilcure Implantable Closed-Loop Self-Responsive Neurostimulation System, is the first closed-loop neurostimulator in Asia, specifically designed for drug-resistant epilepsy. It can collect brain electrical activity in real time, automatically identify pre-seizure warnings, and deliver precise electrical stimulation. The product has entered the special review process for innovative medical devices in China and has completed the first Phase III clinical trial implantation in the country. A registration application is expected to be submitted soon.

Notably, since its establishment in 2020, GenLight has successfully completed eight rounds of financing, gaining continuous support from several well-known institutions such as CD Capital, Qiming Venture Partners, Vision Plus Capital, CICC Capital, Yufu Holdings, Tailong Investment, Lingang Blue Bay Capital, Hangzhou High-Tech Financial Investment, Yuhang State Investment Group, Haibang Investment, and Volcanic Stone Investment.
From the angel round to the recent completion of a C-round financing worth several hundred million yuan and a post-investment valuation approaching 1 billion US dollars, GenLight has spent six years successfully navigating the hard technology growth path of "technology platform establishment - core product approval - continuous capital investment." This also reflects the long-term support of existing shareholders and the strategic optimism of new investors.
Overall, according to the "China Brain-Computer Interface Commercialization Prospective Report," the market size of brain-computer interfaces in China is expected to exceed 5 billion yuan by 2026 and reach 15 billion yuan by 2030. At the policy level, the 2026 government work report mentioned brain-computer interfaces for the first time and listed them as a key industry to be cultivated during the "15th Five-Year Plan." With this, GenLight, supported by its approved products as well as capital and policy endorsements, is entering a critical window for commercialization.
