Jiaao Tech's Orthopedic Surgical Robot, First in China to Complete Randomized Controlled Trial Against Global Leader, Receives NMPA Approval

Shanghai, China — In January 2024, the orthopedic surgical robot independently developed by Shanghai Jiaao Information Technology Development Co., Ltd. (Jiaao Tech) received market approval from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA).

As a pioneer in surgical robotics in China, Jiaao Technology has dedicated years to developing the Jiaao Tiangong 100 surgical robot. It is currently the first orthopedic surgical robot approved in China that has completed multi-center, parallel randomized controlled clinical trials against leading foreign counterparts. Its clinical system accuracy, surgical outcomes (excellent/good rate of screw placement), surgical practicality, and image clarity all surpass those of imported comparable products used as clinical controls, truly achieving overtaking of high-end foreign products. This product is designed for open or minimally invasive spinal surgeries. By employing advanced optical multi-modal adaptation technology, it significantly reduces the number of positioning exposures required from the C-arm machine during surgery. Furthermore, it provides surgeons with precise real-time image guidance, while the system automatically positions itself at the surgical site to assist in performing complex procedures. This effectively enhances surgical precision while substantially reducing radiation exposure risks for both medical staff and patients.
