Ningxia Builds Western Medical & Health Industry Large Model Ecosystem to Lead Healthcare Innovation and Digital Transformation

On February 28, 2024, the Wanda Realm Hotel in Yinchuan, Ningxia, hosted a landmark event—the Launch Ceremony for the Large Model in the Western Healthcare Industry and the Signing Ceremony for Application Projects. Themed “Empowering Health with Intelligence, Innovating the Future with Wisdom,” the event brought together leading artificial intelligence enterprises and renowned experts and scholars from the healthcare sector, both domestic and international, to jointly discuss the industrial development and innovative applications of large models in the healthcare industry.

The Ningxia Government has demonstrated its firm commitment and forward-thinking approach to digital innovation in large language models through this initiative. By collaborating with industry leaders such as Baichuan Intelligence, Zhipu AI, Winning Health, Zuoyi Technology, Fuyu Medical, and Shukun Group, Ningxia is striving to build an innovation hub that integrates the research and development of healthcare-specific large models with the construction of a robust application ecosystem. This effort aims to empower healthcare through technological innovation, enhance the efficiency of medical services, optimize the allocation of healthcare resources, address the challenges of an aging population, and contribute to the realization of the Healthy China initiative.

In terms of innovative applications in healthcare scenarios, Baichuan Intelligence’s Baichuan2-Turbo series API, Zhipu AI’s GLM-4 large language model, Winning Health’s WiNGPT medical-domain large language model, Zuoyi Technology’s AI General Practitioner (d-MDT) assistant large model, Fuyu Medical’s Smart Treatment Doctor, and Shukun Technology’s AI screening, diagnosis, and health management assistant have all demonstrated their respective innovations in the healthcare sector. These large language models not only enhance diagnostic and treatment efficiency but also provide personalized treatment plans for patients, thereby promoting the standardization and equitable delivery of medical services.

At the press conference, various companies showcased their innovative achievements. Baichuan Intelligence’s Baichuan2-Turbo series API, empowered by search-enhancement technology and an extended context window, provides users with customized knowledge base solutions. Zhipu AI’s GLM-4 large language model demonstrated its application potential in areas such as medical question-answering systems and medical literature analysis. Winning Health’s WiNGPT, a large language model tailored for the healthcare sector, along with its WiNEX Copilot intelligent assistant for medical staff, delivers intelligent information services to the healthcare industry. Zuoyi Technology’s AI General Practitioner (d-MDT) auxiliary large model aims to revolutionize primary care experiences through an AI platform driven by expert digital avatars. By integrating large language model technology with knowledge graphs, it constructs a healthcare service pathway spanning from general practice to specialty care and finally to expert consultation, thereby providing accurate and reliable medical advice. Furthermore, Zuoyi Technology’s solutions not only enhance the quality and efficiency of medical services but also optimize health record management and facilitate the balanced allocation of medical resources. Fuyu Medical Technology’s “Intelligent Therapist Doctor,” serving as an expert digital avatar, offers comprehensive medical assistance to patients. Shukun Technology’s large language model has demonstrated unique value in AI-based screening, diagnosis, and health management.

With the support of the Ningxia Government, local enterprises such as Digital Ningxia and China Unicom Ningxia Branch are fostering close collaboration with ecosystem partners to jointly advance the application of large language models in the healthcare sector. As a key participant in the development of Digital Ningxia, China Unicom Ningxia Branch leverages its robust capabilities in 5G, gigabit networks, government and enterprise services, and computing power to provide a solid network and computational foundation for the implementation of large healthcare models.Digital Ningxia Construction and Operation Co., Ltd. has leveraged the combination of “large models + data” to jointly promote the development of digital government, strengthen the governance of public and enterprise data, facilitate efficient data sharing and compliant development and utilization, fully unleash the value of data as a factor of production, and thereby provide a favorable policy environment and data support for the advancement of large models in healthcare.

At the signing ceremony, Winning Health and China Unicom Ningxia Branch signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Both parties will collaborate closely on the development of Ningxia’s large healthcare model, fully leveraging their complementary advantages to promote the construction of the Ningxia Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Diagnosis and Treatment Demonstration Zone. Meanwhile, Beijing Zuoyi Technology Co., Ltd. signed the “Strategic Cooperation Agreement on AI-Powered Primary Care Family Doctor Assistants” with the Yinchuan Municipal Health Commission and the Zhongwei Municipal Health Commission, further deepening the application of artificial intelligence in primary healthcare services. Additionally, the Yinchuan Municipal Education Bureau, the Yinchuan Municipal Health Commission, and Digital Ningxia Company signed the “Strategic Cooperation Agreement on AI Psychologist Assistant Large Models”; the Zhongwei Municipal Health Commission, Digital Ningxia Company, and Shukun Group Co., Ltd. signed the “Strategic Cooperation Agreement on AI-Assisted Imaging Diagnosis”; and the People’s Hospital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University, and the First People’s Hospital of Yinchuan signed the “Strategic Cooperation Agreement on AI Oncologist Assistant” with Beijing Fuyu Medical Technology Co., Ltd. China Unicom Ningxia Branch also entered into strategic cooperation agreements with Winning Health Technology Group Co., Ltd., Beijing Zuoyi Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Fuyu Medical Technology Co., Ltd., and Shukun Technology Co., Ltd.
