On February 29, the DingTalk “C10 Roundtable” Pharmaceutical Special Session was held in Shanghai, where DingTalk unveiled its “4A” industry-specific solutions for pharmaceutical enterprises. Lei Wanyun, Chairman of the China Enterprise Digitalization Alliance; Lin Jinbin, Chief Digital Officer and Assistant to the President of Fosun Pharmaceutical; and Zheng Huailiang, Vice President of Innovent Bio, along with other digital transformation leaders from leading domestic biopharmaceutical companies, attended the event to discuss trends and share practical experiences in the digital transformation of biopharmaceutical enterprises.
The pharmaceutical industry is a vital component of China's national economy, holding a pivotal position. As the sector strides toward high-quality development, pharmaceutical companies inevitably face digitalization challenges in management, safety, efficiency, and cost control. At the conference, DingTalk unveiled its “4A” solution tailored for the pharmaceutical industry, encompassing strategies for agile organizational practices, enhancing resilience through industrial expansion, empowering the entire ecosystem with inclusive intelligence, and broadening horizons via diversified services. The latest practical applications of AI in the pharmaceutical sector were also showcased. AI has been widely adopted to enhance employee capabilities, innovate business processes, and facilitate the accumulation and effective utilization of knowledge, demonstrating significant potential value.
It is reported that over 60% of the top 100 biopharmaceutical companies are currently using DingTalk. Wei Yawei, General Manager of DingTalk’s Healthcare Industry Division, stated at the event that through their collaboration with DingTalk, biopharmaceutical enterprises have also explored multiple digitalization pathways with significant reference value.
Fosun Pharmaceutical employs nearly 40,000 people worldwide and has been using DingTalk since 2015, making it one of the earliest enterprise adopters of the platform. Fosun Pharmaceutical’s extensive business footprint and numerous subsidiary companies have posed significant challenges to its digital transformation efforts. In this context, Fosun Group developed “Fosun Link,” a personalized collaborative office platform based on Dedicated DingTalk, establishing an organizational structure that spans from Fosun International to Fosun Pharmaceutical, and further down to the various industrial subsidiaries under Fosun Pharmaceutical.
Meanwhile, Fosun Pharmaceutical has integrated office systems such as OA (Office Automation), electronic signatures, the IT self-service platform, and expense control into DingTalk, significantly enhancing daily operational efficiency. By centrally procuring and managing a unified set of applications, the entire Group achieves resource reuse, substantially reducing redundant efforts in areas such as office operations, human resources, and administration. According to Lin Jinbin, the “super front-end” built on DingTalk has transformed Fosun Group’s workflow from “people seeking systems” to “systems seeking people,” creating an intelligent digital work environment.
Prior to 2019, Innovent Bio relied exclusively on corporate email for internal communication, a back-and-forth process that significantly hindered efficiency. Starting in 2019, the company adopted DingTalk as its primary tool for employee communication and collaboration. This shift substantially reduced internal coordination costs and effectively addressed information security concerns by establishing a collaboration security framework tailored to the biopharmaceutical industry, built upon four key dimensions: “access control,” “behavior restriction,” “access management,” and “auditability.”
Leveraging DingTalk as its digital foundation, Innovent Bio has integrated numerous internal information systems to create a unified collaborative office portal. By lowering the primary barrier to information security assurance, the company has significantly enhanced the efficiency of internal collaborative work. Furthermore, departments such as Translational Medicine at Innovent Bio utilize Teambition to achieve digital management of preclinical research projects. Key tasks, documents, approvals, and data for each product development stage are now online and visualized, effectively improving employees’ project collaboration efficiency.
Lei Wanyun, Chairman of the China Enterprise Digitalization Alliance, believes that digital transformation is a strategic concept for enterprises, not a clever tactic aimed at immediate benefits. The digital transformation of pharmaceutical companies is still in its early exploratory stage, with a long road ahead. In his view, the value of digital transformation lies in experience innovation, process innovation, and business model innovation. To achieve intelligence, there are six major "chasms" between ideals and reality: application, data, capability, talent, technology, and ecosystem. Key application scenarios in the pharmaceutical industry will exist in internal integration, industrial chain collaboration, and socialized commerce.
