Flexible Bioelectronics: Vast Application Prospects and the Criticality of Technological Commercialization
Flexible bioelectronics is a disruptive technology characterized by a high degree of interdisciplinary integration. It transcends the intrinsic limitations of classical silicon-based electronics, endowing electronic devices with unique flexibility and stretchability, thereby achieving seamless compatibility with human tissues. As such, it serves as a foundational technology for the era of human intelligence.
Despite the rapid advancement of relevant basic research, two major bottlenecks currently hindering the development of the flexible bioelectronics healthcare industry are the difficulty in mass-producing required flexible bioelectronic materials and the lack of commercially viable products.
ROTEX, established in 2015, is one of the first companies globally to overcome the mass production bottlenecks in flexible bioelectronics. With years of dedicated research and refinement in this field, the company’s core business leverages its proprietary technology platform to drive the industrialization and commercial development of projects including transdermal drug delivery, bioelectrical sensors, and surface electrical stimulation. ROTEX has secured investments from prominent institutions such as Hillhouse Venture Capital, Yahui Investment, Heli Investment, Qirong Venture Capital, Gree Industrial Investment, and Shenzhen Taiji Investment.

Non-Invasive Tumor Therapy with Electric Fields: Breakthrough Innovations of ROTEX Flexible Bioelectronics in the Medical Field
There is a bird on the mound in the southwest; it remains silent for three years, but when it finally sings, it astonishes the world. Over the past three years, ROTEX Flexible Electronics Cloud Technology has been dedicated to research on flexible bioelectronic technologies in the field of Tumor Treating Fields (TTF) therapy, achieving significant breakthroughs this year and delivering results that have drawn considerable attention from the industry. This breakthrough marks ROTEX Flexible Electronics Cloud Technology as a company capable of independently manufacturing and producing flexible TTF tumor treatment transducers. To date, no other companies worldwide have been observed offering such products or technologies.
TTF (Tumor Treating Fields) is an emerging non-invasive cancer therapy that interferes with the growth and division of cancer cells by applying electric fields of specific frequency and intensity to the body surface via wearable devices, thereby delaying tumor progression. TTF therapy has been widely used in North America, Europe, Japan, and other countries and regions, and was approved in China in 2022 as a first-line clinical treatment for glioblastoma.
Compared with the rigid electrodes currently used in clinical TTF therapy, flexible bioelectronic electrodes not only conform better to patients’ skin contours but also provide a larger and more uniform electric field distribution. This advancement is expected to expand the application of TTF therapy to a broader range of solid tumors, reduce adverse effects during use, improve patient compliance, and enhance therapeutic efficacy. This technology injects new vitality and hope into the field of oncology treatment. The technology will subsequently enter the clinical validation phase for medical devices, with the aim of achieving clinical application as soon as possible to serve a wide population of patients.

ROTEX’s Flexible Bioelectronic Technology Bridges the Medical and Consumer Markets
Beyond its continuous breakthroughs in the field of serious healthcare, ROTEX is also committed to applying flexible bioelectronic technology to broader markets, enabling more users to benefit from the improvements that cutting-edge technology brings to their daily lives.
The company has also made significant progress in the field of transdermal drug delivery with its flexible bioelectronic technology. In 2022, its first titanium-based flexible bioelectronic skin system for transdermal drug delivery obtained national medical device certification.
By integrating intelligent algorithms with electric field technology, this system enables non-invasive and painless transdermal delivery of drug molecules to target sites across large skin areas, thereby facilitating the treatment of dermatological conditions. To date, the product has been successfully adopted by hundreds of medical aesthetics institutions in China, and a partnership with North American collaborators was signed in 2023, with formal market entry into North America anticipated in 2024.
In addition to its successful applications in the medical field, ROTEX has actively expanded into the consumer market, applying flexible bioelectronic technology to beauty and skincare as well as menstrual pain management for women. It has launched TIMLS, a permeation-enhancing beauty system based on electronic skin.®, which can enhance the skin's absorption of active ingredients in skincare products and improve their cosmetic efficacy. This will bring a novel technological experience to clients of beauty institutions, providing users with safer, smarter, more convenient, and effective beauty services.
Meanwhile, to address menstrual pain, ROTEX Soft Electronics Cloud Tech has developed a comfortable, seamless wearable solution for menstrual pain management by integrating flexible bioelectronic technology with TENS therapy, aiming to enhance the quality of life for female users.

Future and Outlook
ROTEX has also made R&D progress in the fields of flexible pressure sensor arrays, flexible bioelectric sensor systems, and implantable flexible bioelectronic materials, which will be applied in frontier medical areas such as humanoid service robots, AI-powered exoskeletons, and brain-computer interfaces.
This series of achievements underscores its leading position in the field of flexible bioelectronics, while also demonstrating the robust strength and innovative capabilities of Chinese technology enterprises in the healthcare sector. These accomplishments are inseparable from ROTEX’s three years of quiet accumulation and diligent efforts in both scientific research and market development. As stated in Han Feizi, “For three years it did not flap its wings, to grow its feathers; it neither flew nor sang, to observe the ways of the people.”
Since its inception, ROTEX has been committed to continuous innovation, technological refinement, and experience accumulation, constantly enhancing its products and services. With steady progress, the company focuses on the research, development, and application of flexible bioelectronic technologies. Now, ROTEX is poised to make a remarkable breakthrough, embodying the spirit that “though it may not fly, when it does, it will soar to the heavens; though it may not sing, when it does, its song will astonish the world.” We believe that ROTEX will achieve even greater success in the future, making more significant contributions to the cause of human health.
