Recently, at the 2024 Partner Conference themed “Embracing Trends, Innovating, and Jointly Building a Healthy and Bright Future,” health technology company Pinjia Health officially launched its new product—the next-generation cervical sampler from Pinjia.

Pinjia Health has deeply cultivated the home self-testing market, committed to addressing the two key challenges of home-based “sample collection” and “testing.” The launch of its new-generation cervical sampler marks a significant step forward in tackling the “sample collection” challenge.

Pinjia’s New-Generation Cervical Sampler is specifically designed for cervical sampling in women, providing a standardized and comfortable solution for HPV self-testing to help prevent cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer is one of the common malignant tumors in gynecology. In 2020, there were over 600,000 new cases of cervical cancer worldwide, with more than 340,000 deaths; In China, everyApproximately per year120,000 new cases and 37,000 deaths. Incidence and Mortality Rates of Cervical CancerThe overall trend continues to rise, with a noticeable shift toward younger demographics in China. One of the leading causes of cancer-related mortality in women under the age of 50.

Among all known human cancers, cervical cancer is the only one that can be effectively prevented and controlled through early prevention and vaccination, making it the most promising candidate for eradication. In 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) launched the “Global Strategy to Accelerate the Elimination of Cervical Cancer,” with cervical cancer screening being a key measure. China has also released the “Action Plan for Accelerating the Elimination of Cervical Cancer (2023–2030),” setting targets for cervical cancer screening rates among eligible women to reach 50% by 2025 and 70% by 2030.

Due to factors such as busy work schedules or privacy concerns, many women are reluctant to visit hospitals for cervical cancer screening, which has, to some extent, affected the coverage rate of such screenings. According to statistics, in 2019, the cervical cancer screening rate among women aged 35–64 in China was only around 36%.

The World Health Organization recommends HPV DNA testing as the preferred method for cervical cancer screening, and multiple guidelines in China also recommend HPV nucleic acid testing as the primary approach for cervical cancer screening. HPV testing can be categorized into clinician-collected and self-collected sampling methods. Self-sampling offers advantages such as ease of use, privacy protection, and cost savings, which can effectively improve the cervical cancer screening experience, increase screening willingness among eligible women, and thereby enhance cervical cancer screening rates.

Pinjia Health’s new-generation cervical sampler was developed specifically to address this pain point. It was designed and engineered based on extensive market research and literature review, with ergonomics tailored to Chinese women.

Compared with traditional cervical brushes, Pinjia’s new-generation cervical sampler has achieved groundbreaking advances in sampling comfort, convenience, and standardization, addressing many challenges associated with self-sampling. The product features an innovative sheath design that ensures smoother and more comfortable insertion while simplifying the sampling procedure; no speculum is required, and cervical sampling can be easily completed with a single press and five rotations. Safety has been carefully considered as well: the curved safety guard helps ensure accurate and safe positioning, strictly controls sampling depth, and prevents over-sampling or tissue injury. After extensive comparative testing of materials, a specially formulated sponge sampling head was selected to provide skin-friendly comfort and rapid fluid absorption, thereby enhancing sample quality.

To validate the efficacy of its next-generation cervical sampler, Pinjia Health conducted rigorous testing. The results demonstrated complete concordance between self-collected samples and clinician-collected samples in HPV genotyping assays, thereby substantiating the product’s effectiveness in cervical sample collection. Pinjia’s next-generation cervical sampler received approval for Class II medical device registration from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in late 2023.

As a significant achievement by Pinjia Health in the field of at-home self-testing, the new generation cervical sampler provides women with a more convenient and comfortable method for self-sampling. Its launch represents an active response to the national “Action Plan to Accelerate the Elimination of Cervical Cancer” and further demonstrates Pinjia’s deep care and steadfast commitment to women’s health. We believe that Pinjia’s new generation cervical sampler will play a vital role in cervical cancer screening, safeguarding the cervical health of women everywhere.
