Domestic laparoscopic surgical robots achieve another major breakthrough! Recently,Professor Cai Liping, Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University (hereinafter referred to as “the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University”), led her team in successfully conducting the first gynecological clinical trial of the Tuoling® laparoscopic surgical robot.. Developed independently by Tuodao Medical, a domestic leader in innovative surgical robotics, the product assisted Professor Cai Liping’s team in successfully completing a highly complex radical hysterectomy.

It is reported that the patient undergoing this surgery was a 56-year-old woman diagnosed with stage IIA cervical cancer. Her condition was particularly complex, having received two cycles of neoadjuvant chemotherapy prior to surgery, which significantly increased the surgical difficulty. Drawing on years of clinical experience and expertise in robotic surgery, Professor Cai Liping’s team decided to employ the Tuoling®Laparoscopic surgical robots are employed to perform radical hysterectomy, thereby maximizing patient safety.

However, during the surgery, Professor Cai Liping discovered extensive and dense adhesions in the patient’s pelvic cavity, making the procedure far more complex and technically challenging than anticipated. Nevertheless, thanks to the precise and error-free manipulation, stable and reliable performance, and high-definition visual system of the robotic laparoscopic surgical system, the operation proceeded in an orderly manner.
Under the operation of Professor Cai Liping, the laparoscopic surgical robot skillfully exposed the medial aspect of the uterosacral ligament, subsequently dissected the ureter, and then separated the lateral aspect of the uterosacral ligament with high precision, further dissecting the paravesical space. After completing these critical steps, the robot opened the ureteral tunnel and meticulously managed the paravaginal tissue. Finally, the robot accurately transected the vagina and completed the suturing.

Severe pelvic adhesions; clear dissection of the iliac vessels
Following the procedure, Professor Cai Liping stated, “We successfully performed a radical hysterectomy, pelvic lymphadenectomy, and para-aortic lymphadenectomy—a surgical intervention that was both extensive and complex. In this significant challenge, our domestically produced laparoscopic surgical robot once again demonstrated its superior performance by flawlessly executing the surgical tasks. It will undoubtedly lead gynecological surgery into a new era of domestic surgical robots characterized by minimally invasive techniques, precision, and intelligence.”
