Ascendum Capital recently announced the completion of a Pre-A financing round worth tens of millions of RMB for Wuxi Yingdatong Medical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Yingdatong”).This round of financing was participated in by Wuxi Runyuan, Wuxi Capital Group, and a well-known family office.The proceeds from this financing round will be used to support the design verification and clinical trials of the company’s series of single-use vascular interventional robotic products. Meanwhile, Wuxi Yingdatong Medical Co., Ltd. will further increase its R&D investment and launch more original medical devices tailored to the clinical needs of vascular disease treatment.
In 2021, Ascendum Capital acquired a controlling stake in Endoways, an innovative Israeli enterprise. Following three years of R&D and iterative development by teams in Israel and the United States, the company officially established its operations in Phase I of the Wuxi Precision Industrial Park in China in 2024. The company specializes in the research, development, and manufacturing of fully disposable vascular interventional surgical robots, initially targeting neurointerventional procedures, which are regarded as the “crown jewel” of interventional surgery.
Compared with traditional surgical robots, Wuxi Yingdatong Medical's products have obvious advantages,Its independently developed unique catheter design and supporting electromechanical system eliminate the need to compromise between pushability, torque control, and flexibility, enabling physicians to more easily navigate tortuous vessels to reach the lesion during procedures, while also holding potential for remote surgery.。
Traditional vascular interventional procedures require the operator to stand beside the digital subtraction angiography (DSA) table and manually manipulate interventional devices under X-ray guidance. The occupational hazards faced by interventional physicians are becoming increasingly evident due to the cumulative effects of ionizing radiation from long-term exposure and musculoskeletal disorders caused by wearing lead aprons. Vascular interventional surgical robots can reduce physicians' workload and radiation exposure, thereby extending their career longevity. Furthermore, the fully disposable design of single-use vascular interventional robots eliminates the need for hospitals to purchase fixed equipment, significantly lowering the procurement threshold.
The People’s Government of Xishan District has provided strong support to Wuxi Yingdatong Medical Co., Ltd. in areas such as facility establishment, supporting policies, and talent recruitment. On March 18, 2024, the People’s Government of Xishan District and Ascendum Capital signed a strategic cooperation agreement at Ascendum Capital’s office in Cyberport, Hong Kong. Both parties hope to take this signing as a new starting point to attract more high-tech projects with an international perspective to Xishan, pursue deeper cooperation from a higher strategic standpoint and across broader fields, and work together to strengthen and optimize the biopharmaceutical and precision medicine industries.
