RAIN BIOTECH SOLUTIONS completed a seed funding round of nearly HK$10 million in January 2024, and expects to launch 5–10 intelligent cell industrial equipment products and complete the acquisition of Japanese cell industrial technology within the year.

RAIN BIOTECH SOLUTIONS, established in July 2020 and headquartered in Hong Kong, China, specializes in the intelligent automation of equipment for the cell industry. Leveraging its proprietary microfluidics, AI, and iPS cell culture technologies, the company provides AI-driven cell sorting, imaging, and culture systems for the field of regenerative medicine, with the ultimate goal of achieving full automation throughout the entire cell and organ production process.

The company expects to launch five products in 2024, including an AI cell sorter, a cell encapsulation system, a flow cytometry cell sorter, an iPS cell bioreactor, and a programmable syringe pump. Five AI-powered devices, such as an AI cell imager, an AI cell counter, and an AI smart bioreactor, are currently under development.

RAIN BIOTECH SOLUTIONS (formerly Huayuan Regenerative Medicine (Hong Kong) Limited) also officially secured support from the second batch of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government funds this April, designated for the research and development of AI-driven cell and organoid sorting equipment. This marks RAIN BIOTECH’s second major government-funded project, following its earlier initiative on “Artificial Pancreatic Islet Encapsulation and Acoustic Assembly of the Pancreas.”

Mr. Hu Yaolong, Marketing Director of RAIN BIOTECH SOLUTIONS, stated: “We will focus on AI-driven intelligent cell production solutions to propel the development of the regenerative medicine and biotechnology industries. We are committed to becoming a key player in Hong Kong’s biotech ecosystem, establishing a leading position in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and building a global sales network to serve the advancement of the cell industry.”
