GSK China announced on May 15 that its vaccine business would undergo an organizational adjustment, splitting intoShingrixBusiness Team andEngerixBusiness teams to better focus on driving the high growth of vaccine strategy products.
Mr. Zhang Guangyu officially joined GSK on May 15th as the Head of Shingrix China Business., based in Shanghai. According to available information, Zhang Guangyu graduated from Beijing Medical University (now Peking University Health Science Center) with a bachelor's degree in pharmacology and has over 20 years of experience in marketing and management within foreign pharmaceutical enterprises.
Before joining GSK, Mr. Zhang Guangyu worked at Amgen, where he held various management positions at Amgen China, with responsibilities covering nationwide operations, market strategies, and frontline sales. He has also served at multinational pharmaceutical companies such as Shire, Bayer, and Pfizer. Additionally, he has worked atRound Health TechnologyVenturing into the field of internet healthcare, with a hybrid background in both traditional pharmaceutical marketing and digital innovation.
ShingrixInFirst approved by the FDA for marketing in 2017, used to prevent shingles in adults aged 50 and above, and in 2021, the indication was further expanded and approved by the FDA for the prevention of shingles in individuals aged 18 and above.And above who are at high risk or will soon be at high risk of shingles due to known diseases or treatments causing immunodeficiency or immunosuppression.
In May 2019, Shingrix (recombinant zoster vaccine) was approved by China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for the prevention of shingles in adults aged 50 years and older. It officially went on sale in the Chinese market in mid-2020.
