Government, Park, and Healthcare Industry Service Providers

In recent years, China’s medical device market has experienced rapid growth and has become the second-largest market globally. Meanwhile, domestically produced innovative devices are accelerating in both quality improvement and development speed. Breakthroughs in upstream raw materials and core components are key to innovation in medical devices and determine the safety and efficacy of products. However, due to the relatively late start of China’s medical device industry, the raw materials and core components for certain devices remain controlled by overseas companies, and are subject to various factors such as the international trade environment and the operational status of foreign suppliers.

Furthermore, in an environment characterized by intensifying competition in the medical device market and the impending expansion of centralized procurement, product conversion efficiency and commercialization determine a company’s core competitiveness. From the perspective of long-term development needs, establishing a robust supply chain and securing autonomy over R&D and manufacturing are critical. Given the substantial upfront investments required for these initiatives, they have also driven the growth of third-party services as well as related innovation centers and industrial parks.

From May 7 to 10, the 8th Future Healthcare Ecosystem Expo will be held at the Beijing·Beiren Yichuang International Convention and Exhibition Center. The event is organized by VB100, VCBeat, VCBeat Research Institute, and Artery Orange, co-organized by the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA), and conducted in strategic cooperation with the Management Committee of Tianjin Binhai Zhongguancun Science Park and Beitang Bay Digital Economy Industrial Park.

During this period, the Sub-forum on Medical Device Design and Manufacturing will be held on the morning of May 8, bringing together stakeholders from government, industry, academia, and research to jointly explore pathways for innovative and intelligent manufacturing in the medical device sector. In conjunction with the concurrent exhibition, the sub-forum will further promote collaboration between medical device companies and upstream raw material and component suppliers, as well as third-party CXO service providers, thereby strengthening integration across the industrial chain.

Supply-Demand Matchmaking: Jointly Discussing Independent Innovation and Intelligent Manufacturing in Medical Devices

As the medical device industry chain undergoes integration and upgrading, new challenges have emerged for participants across the upstream and downstream sectors. Key issues include: How can medical device innovation achieve breakthroughs at the upstream level? Which upstream raw materials and core components remain subject to “chokepoint” constraints, and how can companies overcome import monopolies in these areas? Where does the true value of CDMO services lie, and how can they drive intelligent manufacturing in the medical device sector? Most critically, regarding communication and collaboration, how can medical device companies effectively engage with upstream suppliers and CXO service providers?

In response to the aforementioned challenges, this sub-forum on Medical Device Design and Manufacturing aims to provide solutions. Centered on the theme of “Independent Development and Intelligent Manufacturing of Medical Devices,” the forum features distinguished experts, including the Deputy General Manager of the National Innovation Center for High-Performance Medical Devices and Deputy Director of its Innovation Research Institute, as well as a Professor at Soochow University who is also an FDA-certified toxicologist and pathologist. The event brings together key stakeholders across the industry chain—such as leading domestic suppliers of upstream raw materials and core components, medical device CRO and CDMO service providers, and medical device manufacturers—to jointly explore the challenges and opportunities in independent innovation and intelligent manufacturing within the medical device sector.

The sub-forum features two main segments: “Keynote Speeches” and “Roundtable Discussions.” In the Keynote Speeches segment, experts will share insights on industry hot topics such as independent R&D of medical devices, translation of innovative projects, and localization of medical devices. Corporate representatives will discuss subjects including breakthroughs in upstream components, development of frontier technologies, and innovative development models for medical device companies, drawing from their practical experience and industry development needs. During the Roundtable Discussions, representatives from academia, industry, and research institutions will engage in in-depth discussions on the challenges, pain points, and development trends in the independent development and intelligent manufacturing of medical devices.

Currently, the sub-forum has invited the following renowned experts, investors, and leading enterprises to participate:

1. He Jiaye, Deputy General Manager of the National Innovation Center for High-Performance Medical Devices, Deputy Dean of the Innovation Research Institute, and CEO of Shenzhen Mingzhun Medical Technology Co., Ltd.;

2. Wang Shouli, Professor at Soochow University, FDA-certified toxicologist and pathologist in the United States, and Chief Scientist at Bio-safety Medical;

3. Feng Jian, Deputy General Manager of Zhongguancun Shuimu Medical Technology Service Group and General Manager of Beijing Shuimu Jinsheng Medical Technology Service Co., Ltd.;

4. Tang Zhihong, Founder of Chronos Medical Devices (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.;

5. Du Xiaodong, Chairman of Xunjia Technology Group;

6. Chen Tao, Chairman of Dongmai Medical Group;

7. Chen Hong, Founder of Jiangsu Biosailfly Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and Professor at Soochow University;

8. Sun Baozhong, Partner and General Manager of North China Region at Beijing Rococo Medical

9. Zhang Xiaomeng, Partner at Xiqiao Capital

……

Guided by the concept of new quality productive forces, the medical device industry chain will continue to improve and upgrade. From the localization of upstream raw materials and core components to the efficient transformation of medical devices driven by third-party CXO services, the upstream and downstream segments of the supply chain are deeply integrated. Based on industry development trends and the need for supply-demand matchmaking, the 8th Future Medical Ecosystem Expo (VBEF) will be held in Beijing, the forefront of China’s medical development, gathering leading enterprises, innovative products, and services. We look forward to your participation!
