Jambes, Belgium, May 17, 2024 – Full-Life Technologies Limited (“Full-Life Technologies”), a fully integrated international radiopharmaceutical therapy company, today announced the appointment of Dr. Mark S. de Jong as its newly created Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Dr. de Jong brings 43 years of extensive leadership experience and deep expertise in accelerator physics and isotope production, with particular proficiency in the commercial-scale production of radioisotopes using linear accelerators. He previously served as Chief Technology Officer at Canadian Isotope Innovations Corp.

During his tenure at Canadian Isotope Innovations Corp., Dr. de Jong led the construction and operation of a Medical Isotope Production (MIP) facility featuring a 35 MeV electron linear accelerator dedicated to medical isotope production. He was responsible for developing novel medical isotopes producible via electron accelerators and spearheaded the development of electron accelerator and target technologies required for medical isotope production.

Prior to joining Canadian Isotope Innovations Corp., Dr. de Jong served as the Head of Medical Isotopes at Canadian Light Source Inc. (CLS). During his tenure, he led the development, operation, and commercialization of the CLS Medical Isotope Production (MIP) facility, which primarily produces the medical isotope molybdenum-99 (99Mo) using a 35 MeV electron linear accelerator. Dr. de Jong’s exceptional leadership drove the successful implementation of numerous pioneering projects, including the design and commissioning of a 2.9 GeV electron synchrotron at CLS and the production of molybdenum-99 via the photoneutron method. Additionally, he developed critical software tools for the safe operation of nuclear power plants.

Dr. de Jong’s leadership and extensive experience have been widely recognized within the industry. He has actively participated in numerous national and international prestigious committees, contributing to advancements in related fields. Dr. de Jong served as the Principal Scientific Investigator for an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Coordinated Research Project dedicated to exploring novel production methods for the critical medical isotope technetium-99m (Tc-99m). Furthermore, he has held leadership roles on several international advisory committees, including those at the Taiwan Photon Source and the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility, providing valuable guidance for their development.

Dr. de Jong has not only achieved remarkable success in academia but also actively participated in the work of international organizations such as the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (OECD-NEA). His outstanding contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including the AECL Distinguished Merit Award from Atomic Energy of Canada Limited and the Honoured Alumni Award from the University of Manitoba. Dr. de Jong earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Manitoba.

Mr. Philippe van Put, General Manager of Full-Life Technologies in Europe, stated: “Dr. de Jong possesses profound expertise and extensive practical experience in particle accelerator technology, particularly in the field of medical isotope production. His joining will play a pivotal leadership role in our company’s application of advanced particle accelerators to develop radioisotope production technologies. Furthermore, Dr. de Jong has achieved remarkable success in the development and management of electron accelerator facilities. His leadership capabilities, technical prowess, and long-term strategic vision for accelerator facility management have been widely recognized within the industry, leading to his invitation to serve on numerous committees and projects. We believe that Dr. de Jong’s arrival will bring fresh perspectives and innovative concepts to Full-Life Technologies, and his valuable experience will help propel the company into a new stage of development.”
