Build a Demonstration Zone for Medical-Industrial Collaboration to Facilitate the Implementation of Innovative Projects, Identify Business Opportunities, and Link Resources

In 2016, the national government began studying and deploying plans for the construction of Beijing’s Municipal Administrative Center. Over the past eight years, as a key component of the “One Core, Two Wings” framework for the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center has fully leveraged its role as a bridgehead to radiate influence and drive progress, promoting the integrated high-quality development of the demonstration zone with the three northern counties of Langfang.

Amid the new wave of technological transformation, the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector, as one of the most technology-intensive, innovation-dense, and investment-active fields, represents a key direction for developing new quality productive forces. As the cluster area for Beijing’s future health industry development, the Beijing Sub-Center is leveraging its core function of technological innovation and its own advantages to build a “Demonstration Zone for Collaborative Development of Medicine and Industry” in accordance with high standards.

Leveraging the high-quality medical resources accumulated by seven tertiary hospitals, including Peking University People’s Hospital, Beijing Friendship Hospital affiliated with Capital Medical University, and Beijing Anzhen Hospital affiliated with Capital Medical University, the Beijing Sub-center provides abundant foundational support and application scenarios for medical-industrial collaboration. Currently, the pharmaceutical and health industries in the Beijing Sub-center are booming, with nearly 400 market entities related to pharmaceuticals and healthcare operating in the area, injecting strong momentum into the coordinated development of medicine and industry.

To support the development of a collaborative ecosystem between healthcare and industry, Tongzhou District has prominently released the “Ten Measures for Encouraging the Development of the Pharmaceutical and Health Industries in Beijing’s Municipal Administrative Center.” These measures focus on three key areas: “supporting medical-industrial collaboration to build distinctive industrial ecosystems,” “supporting product innovation to accelerate the realization of industrial value,” and “promoting the aggregation of essential factors to strengthen industrial service support,” thereby providing support to pharmaceutical companies, medical institutions, and various entities involved in industrial factors. Based on the new stage of industrial development in the Municipal Administrative Center, Tongzhou District has optimized and upgraded its “1+N” industrial policy framework and formulated the “Several Measures for Accelerating High-Quality Industrial Development in Beijing’s Municipal Administrative Center.” This initiative provides comprehensive assistance to enterprise development from multiple dimensions, including financial support, spatial supply, business environment optimization, and talent services.

To further promote the agglomeration of the pharmaceutical and health industries in the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center and foster the coordinated development of medicine and industry, the “2024 Beijing Municipal Administrative Center Innovative Medical Translation Competition” has officially launched! This competition aims to build key links in the translation ecosystem—connecting technology with demand, clinical practice with solutions, and enterprises with capital. It provides professional support to both supply and demand sides of achievement translation, demonstrates the synergistic model of medical-industrial collaboration, accelerates the translation of outcomes, facilitates industrial implementation, and fosters in-depth cooperation.

Following the launch ceremony and the release of the competition framework for this edition, the Tongzhou District Commission of Science and Technology presented a series of measures and policies designed to encourage innovation in the pharmaceutical and health industries and accelerate high-quality industrial development in the Beijing Sub-Center, addressing concerns from various sectors. Yifang Health Valley, the first medical and health industrial park in Tongzhou District, will serve as the venue for the semi-finals and finals of the competition, and will concurrently host the Forum on Medical Innovation and Scientific Research Translation during the final round.

What Will You Gain by Joining the Recruitment in Three Core Hardcore Fields?

This is a sufficiently “hardcore” innovation medical translation competition.The “hardcore” nature we discuss is manifested, on one hand, in niche sectors: The competition features three categories during the registration, preliminary, and semi-final stages: Medical Devices & Intelligent Manufacturing, Innovative Pharmaceuticals & Biologics, and Digital Health & AI. The final stage will not be divided into categories.

Medical Devices and Intelligent Manufacturing Group:Primarily covering instruments, equipment, appliances, in vitro diagnostic reagents and calibrators, materials, and other similar or related items that are used directly or indirectly on the human body;

Innovative Pharmaceuticals and Biologics Group:Primarily covering pharmaceutical projects in R&D, manufacturing, innovative drugs and biologics, or those providing innovative therapies, including substances or formulations for the prevention, treatment, or diagnosis of diseases;

Digital Healthcare and AI Group:It primarily covers healthcare service products that leverage emerging technologies such as the internet and artificial intelligence, or integrate existing technologies, to deliver more precise and efficient medical services.

The other side of the “hardcore” nature is the award structure of this competition.To identify more innovative medical technology projects with genuine high technical content and significant market potential, this Innovation in Medical Translation Competition has established not only comprehensive first, second, and third prizes but also special awards, including the Best Originality Award, the Most Promising Potential Award, the Best Application Award, and the Outstanding Talent Award. These awards evaluate entries from multiple dimensions, including policy, research and development, talent, funding, and market prospects.Provides participating enterprises with a comprehensive suite of technology transfer services, spanning from research and development to commercialization and industrial implementation.

The awards for winners of this competition include:

Financial Incentives: Drive projects and assist in introducing venture capital and startup funds.
Incubation Incentives: Complimentary office space, commercialization and incubation services, media promotion, and other professional services
Policy Incentives: Premium Project Service Package (Grant Application, Approval Guidance, Talent Services, Key Support)
