In recent years, with the in-depth implementation of the "Healthy China 2030" Planning Outline and the "Action Plan for Improving Children's Health (2021–2025)," the state has put forward higher requirements for the construction of the child health service system. As an important component of the National Children’s Medical Center, Shanghai Children’s Medical Center boasts abundant medical resources and a professional medical team. Meanwhile, WeDoctor, as an internationally leading digital-intelligent health platform, has played a significant role in the digital and intelligent transformation of healthcare services through its robust technical capabilities and innovative strength. The strategic partnership between these two entities aims to explore pathways for the digital and intelligent expansion of high-quality medical resources, thereby providing high-quality healthcare services to more pediatric patients.

Under the cooperation agreement, WeDoctor and the Shanghai Children’s Medical Center will jointly build and operate a specialized platform for specific diseases, establishing a managed care service system focused on key characteristic conditions. Leveraging the superior resources of the National Children’s Medical Center and integrating WeDoctor’s digital-intelligent healthcare platform, the initiative will facilitate the development of cross-regional close-knit medical consortia, disciplinary alliances, and cross-regional healthcare delivery capabilities. This will provide parents and children with comprehensive health information and medical services, significantly enhancing the convenience and accessibility of healthcare.

At the signing ceremony, Hong Li, Vice President of Shanghai Children’s Medical Center, stated, “We are delighted to engage in deep collaboration with WeDoctor. By leveraging the high-quality medical resources of Shanghai Children’s Medical Center and WeDoctor Group’s professional expertise in internet healthcare, we aim to extend the reach and capacity of medical services to various regions, safeguarding the healthy growth of more children.” She emphasized that this partnership represents not only an integration of medical resources but also an innovation in healthcare service models, injecting new vitality into the development of pediatric health in China.

Qiu Kai, Senior Vice President of WeDoctor Group and President of its Shanghai Branch, stated that the collaboration between WeDoctor and the Shanghai Children’s Medical Center will establish a closely integrated medical consortium and a specialized platform for specific diseases. This initiative will provide online medical services to pediatric patients with chronic conditions, those requiring follow-up visits, and those undergoing postoperative rehabilitation, thereby facilitating the vertical integration of high-quality pediatric medical resources and advancing the development of a tiered diagnosis and treatment system for pediatrics. In the future, both parties will continue to deepen their cooperation, explore new frontiers in children’s healthcare—including medical applications and medical AI—and jointly promote the improvement and development of China’s pediatric health service network.

Yao Xiaofeng, Senior Vice President of WeDoctor Group, provided a detailed introduction on how to overcome the challenges in collaboration between physicians at different levels within specialized disease consortiums. He stated that, leveraging its digital platform and AI technologies, WeDoctor has established a multi-tiered physician collaboration network spanning China, as well as municipal, county, township, and village levels, organized by disease type. Through joint specialized outpatient clinics, this model facilitates effective collaboration between top-tier specialists and primary care physicians, “transplanting” the specialized capabilities of large hospitals to the grassroots level. Furthermore, it builds a patient-centered specialized disease management system, achieving structural reorganization and efficient utilization of medical resources.

Furthermore, the national physician collaboration network established by WeDoctor will build disease-specific medical service management systems. By leveraging data analytics and regulatory mechanisms, it continuously optimizes service processes and enhances service quality, thereby promoting the development of disease-specific disciplines. Currently, WeDoctor’s national physician collaboration network covers 20 major clinical departments and over 2,000 disease types. As the specialized disease joint-operation platform expands further in the future, it will better support discipline construction and management, patient services, and the standardization of hospital discipline management. This also provides new insights for the development of regional medical centers for various disciplines in China, enhancing their radiating and leading roles.
