Highlight 2 (Afternoon Session)

“Star Start” Innovation Competition Roadshow and Awards Ceremony


The “Star Starting Point” Innovation Competition, jointly launched in 2022 by Novo Nordisk China R&D Center and ATLATL Innovation Center, focuses on innovative translational projects in the fields of biopharmaceuticals and biotechnology. Each year, a global expert review committee composed of representatives from both organizing parties selects two winning teams.


Recruitment for the 2024 “Star Start” Innovation Competition was launched in April this year. On the day of the R&D Day event, the five projects shortlisted in the first round will conduct public roadshows and engage with the judging committee and on-site audience. The final results of the innovation competition will also be announced on-site, followed by the award ceremony.

Lotte Bjerre Knudsen

Chief Scientific Advisor, Novo Nordisk


Lotte has worked at Novo Nordisk for over 30 years, dedicating herself to GLP-1 research. She has led the design, invention, and mechanistic studies of GLP-1-based therapeutics and has published numerous papers on the effects of GLP-1 drugs on diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and obesity. In recent years, her publications have focused on understanding the effects of GLP-1 on the brain.
