Haihe Laboratory of Synthetic Biology is a new-type R&D institution approved by the Tianjin Municipal People's Government, located at No. 21, West 15th Road, Airport Economic Area, Tianjin. In alignment with national strategies such as "Healthy China," "Beautiful China," and "Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality," the laboratory addresses major fundamental and frontier challenges spanning from understanding life and modifying life to synthesizing and designing life. It develops technical systems for quantitative analysis, precise regulation, synthetic reconstruction, and intelligent design in synthetic biology. Furthermore, it establishes key core technologies—including precise drug synthesis, low-carbon biomanufacturing, intelligent manufacturing of future foods, and biosynthetic storage—and promotes their industrial application, aiming to become a vital source of independent innovation and a primary hub for original innovation in synthetic biology technology and industry development.

Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology) is a research institution jointly established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Tianjin Municipal People’s Government, dedicated to driving ecological development in the industrial sector through biotechnological innovation. It bears the historical mission of establishing China’s industrial biotechnology innovation system and promoting green upgrading of industry. Centered on three strategic themes—“replacing fossil resources with renewable carbon resources, replacing traditional chemical processing with clean bioprocessing, and enhancing industrial capabilities with modern biotechnology”—the institute focuses on fundamental and applied basic research in three key areas: “industrial protein science and biocatalysis engineering, synthetic biology and microbial manufacturing engineering, and biological systems and bioprocess engineering.”

II. Application Requirements

1. Possess a Ph.D. in relevant disciplines such as Microbiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Fermentation Engineering, Biotechnology, or Computational Chemistry;

2. Generally under 35 years of age, with flexibility up to 40 years for exceptionally qualified candidates; physically and mentally healthy;

3. Must be engaged in postdoctoral research on a full-time basis;

4. Capable of conducting scientific research independently, with outstanding innovative research achievements and excellent potential for technological innovation.
