On June 5, Hangzhou Qihan Biotech Co., Ltd. announced that its research on in vivo CAR-T therapy for the treatment of multiple myeloma had achieved a breakthrough. According to the press release, the company’s team independently developed a dual-target in vivo CAR-TTherapy(In Vivo CAR-T) has achieved a breakthrough in investigator-initiated trials (IITs): the product has been administered to four patients with refractory multiple myeloma, with no serious safety events observed, thereby meeting the safety criteria for outpatient administration. The first two patients, who have completed one month of follow-up, both achieved complete response (CR). The cohort included patients with extramedullary involvement (EMI) and elderly patients who had failed prior autologous CAR-T therapy. The study is ongoing.

In vivo CAR-T technology is currently in the early stages of clinical development worldwide. Existing data indicate that phagocytosis and antigen masking, caused by non-specific off-target effects on phagocytes and tumor cells, directly lead to suboptimal clinical efficacy and patient relapse. Hangzhou Qihan Biotech Co., Ltd. has designed its in vivo CAR-T product based on its proprietary precision-targeting in vivo CAR-T platform technology. This approach avoids non-specific interactions with tumor cells and phagocytes, specifically targets T cells, and addresses the issue of antigen masking, thereby aiming to ensure the safety and long-term efficacy of in vivo CAR-T therapy.
