2024 Annual 'High-Quality Medical Innovation and Commercialization Service Institutions' Selection Results Officially Announced

On October 12, the selection results for the “High-Quality Service Institutions for Medical Innovation and Translation” in 2024 were officially released at the Personalized Medicine Symposium and the 4th Health Innovation and Translation Management Forum held in Haikou. The selection of “High-Quality Service Institutions for Medical Innovation and Translation” is a pioneering initiative jointly launched by the National Engineering Research Center for Personalized Diagnosis and Treatment Technologies, Furong Laboratory, China Technology Exchange, Sichuan Western Pharmaceutical Technology Transfer Center, and Peking University Medical Science and Innovation Center to promote the translation of medical achievements.

Representatives from the 45 institutions nationwide recognized as “High-Quality Service Providers for Medical Innovation and Translation” attended the event to receive awards and participate in discussions. Attendees included Chen Lizhang, former Vice President of Central South University; Wang Huiqing, Secretary of the Party Committee of Haikou Hospital Affiliated to Xiangya School of Medicine; Hu Jianzhong, former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Xiangya Hospital; Liu Lijun, Assistant General Manager of China Technology Exchange; Lei Juan, Director of the Sichuan Western Medical Technology Transfer Center; and Shen Juan, Secretary-General of the Operational Council of the Peking University Medical Science Innovation Center, along with representatives from renowned domestic universities, medical institutions, and enterprises. The press conference was moderated by Huang Zhijun, Vice Dean of Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University. During the meeting, Fang Li, Head of Achievement Translation at the National Engineering Research Center for Individualized Diagnosis and Treatment Technology, provided a detailed overview of the entire selection process and the general profile of the high-quality service providers. She reported on the mechanisms for collaborative innovation with these selected institutions and the progress in building a digital service platform, and proposed a preparatory work plan to simultaneously launch the initiative of selecting “Top 50 Medical Technology Managers in China.”

The selection of “High-Quality Service Providers for Medical Innovation and Translation” was established on the basis of implementing the national spirit of promoting industrialization in the health sector. The National Engineering Research Center for Individualized Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologies, in collaboration with three renowned institutions, jointly initiated this program to address major national strategic needs in medicine, focus on clinical technological innovation, and promote the substitution of imported products with domestically produced alternatives in the health field. The aim is to cultivate and strengthen the cohort of service enterprises dedicated to medical innovation, thereby leveraging the critical catalytic role of third-party institutions in the translation of medical innovations. It is hoped that this selection process will effectively foster the deep integration of the innovation chain, industrial chain, and service chain, thus advancing the high-quality translation of achievements from research-oriented hospitals, medical schools, medical research institutions, and start-up medical product companies. Following the press conference, participating experts shared insights on the theme of “Building an Ecosystem for Medical Innovation and Translation” and engaged in in-depth discussions with representatives from the attending institutions.
