VCBeat has exclusively learned that the provider of intelligent medical robot systems, devices, and comprehensive smart healthcare solutions—Beijing AMIT Medical Science and Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “AMIT”), announced the completion ofQianhai Ark Health FundAn exclusive multi-million yuan Series A financing round,Swap CapitalServed as the financial advisor for this round of financing.

AMIT, founded in 2021, specializes in providing robotic system solutions for minimally invasive cancer therapies.Zhang Bo, Founder and ChairmanHe is an Associate Professor at Waseda University, with many years of experience in researching software systems and artificial intelligence technologies in the field of medical surgical robots.Co-founder and CEO Fan PeihuaA graduate of Tongji University’s Clinical Medicine program with years of experience as a surgeon, Fan Peihua later transitioned into the medical device industry, where he successively held senior executive positions for Asia at several renowned international companies.Co-founder and CTO, Zhang ZhemingHe also graduated from Waseda University in Japan with a major in Robotics, and holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in the United States. He has many years of experience in the fields of robotics, smart hardware products, medical devices, and manufacturing.

Implementation of ultrasound navigation combined with millimeter-level precision puncture has entered the pre-market registration clinical trial phase.

In traditional minimally invasive percutaneous interventional ablation for liver cancer, physicians perform ablation therapy on tumor tissue via percutaneous puncture under the guidance of ultrasound, CT, or MRI, inducing tumor cell necrosis and local inactivation of the tumor. However, this approach often faces challenges such as difficulty in tumor identification and imprecise design and control of the puncture path.

To address these challenges, AMIT has independently developed the Jupiter Intelligent Soft Tissue Puncture and Interventional Navigation Surgical Robot. This high-performance robot is dedicated to providing systematic solutions for minimally invasive cancer therapies. It enables clear and accurate targeting of lesions through multimodal image fusion of real-time ultrasound guidance with preoperative CT scans, all without radiation hazards.

This system integrates technologies from clinical medicine, medical imaging, navigation, AI, robotics, advanced manufacturing, and medical materials to address the challenges of tumor identification and precise design and control of puncture paths during clinical ultrasound-guided interventional tumor ablation procedures. It achieves automatic integration of preoperative planning with intraoperative navigation, providing a comprehensive end-to-end solution for puncture and ablation therapy, thereby assisting physicians in accurately locating lesions and performing precise punctures.

During specific surgical procedures, the Jupiter Intelligent Soft Tissue Puncture Interventional Navigation Surgical Robot not only adapts to conventional contrast-enhanced CT, thereby reducing radiation exposure to both patients and medical staff caused by additional CT scans, but also provides CT-based 3D reconstruction visualization segmentation, needle insertion path planning, and simulated thermal field range prediction, offering clinicians precise and quantitative preoperative planning. Furthermore, it intelligently identifies vascular tissues, performs real-time ultrasound-CT image fusion, autonomously tracks target tissues, and monitors respiratory curves, thereby providing real-time intraoperative navigation. This assists physicians in completing minimally invasive interventional treatments, including percutaneous puncture biopsy screening for early-stage cancer, ablation therapies (such as radiofrequency, microwave, or cryoablation), radioactive seed implantation, and puncture-based chemotherapy drug injection.

It is reported that over 90% of the components of the Jupiter Intelligent Soft Tissue Puncture Interventional Navigation Surgical Robot have been localized, reducing the cost of surgical robots from tens of millions or nearly ten million yuan to a market price comparable to that of a flagship ultrasound system. The product has now submitted a registration application to the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA).

Leveraging its proprietary core technologies and the advantage of high localization rates for most components, AMIT is actively expanding its intelligent soft-tissue surgical robot technology to organs such as the lungs, thyroid, breast, kidneys, and prostate, making minimally invasive intervention a truly simple, effective, and standardized surgical procedure.

Multi-Pronged Approach Enters a New Phase of Rapid Development

Leveraging its innovative technologies and products, AMIT has won numerous awards in major innovation and entrepreneurship competitions—

  • In September 2024, it was shortlisted among the top ten finalists in the 2024 HKUST-Junhe Environmental Protection “Artificial Intelligence” Million-Dollar International Entrepreneurship Competition, becoming the only healthcare enterprise to reach the top ten.

Regarding securing this round of financing,Zhang Bo, Founder of AMITHe stated: “First and foremost, we extend our sincere gratitude to Qianhai Ark’s major fund for its trust and support, as well as to Swap Capital for its close collaboration, which enabled the successful completion of our Series A financing. As researchers and entrepreneurs in the field of medical robotics with over two decades of deep expertise, we have often witnessed many individuals exhausting their life savings—accumulated over 30 years of hard work—on medical treatments during the final months of their lives. To change this reality, our goal is to promote ‘early detection and early treatment,’ leveraging minimally invasive, painless medical technologies that allow patients to incur lower treatment costs while benefiting from more advanced minimally invasive therapies.”

Our team is dedicated to closely integrating globally leading robotic technologies with domestic clinical needs, developing surgical robotic products that truly meet the demands of the Chinese market. Endoscopic surgical robotics has undergone nearly 30 years of development, transforming the traditional paradigm of open-chest surgery. The future trend in healthcare lies in treating tumors through a single needle puncture, thereby improving postoperative quality of life and alleviating patients’ fear of cancer treatment. Our project represents not only an advancement in medical robotics but also a redefinition of needle-based tumor therapy through “AI image recognition + robotic navigation” technology, making precise, minimally invasive healthcare accessible to everyone.

Duan Xufang, General Manager of Qianhai Ark Big Health FundIt indicates that automation and minimally invasive approaches in surgery, along with ultrasound visualization, represent future trends. Ultrasound-guided visualization technology during minimally invasive and robotic surgeries is a key direction for future development. Building on Waseda University’s technical expertise in medical robotics, AMIT has developed an intelligent navigation robot for soft-tissue percutaneous interventional procedures. By leveraging AI and robotics, the system automatically integrates preoperative planning with intraoperative navigation, providing a comprehensive solution for the entire workflow of puncture and ablation therapies. Its future R&D and application prospects are broad, holding the promise of delivering more precise, minimally invasive, and intelligent treatment options to a wider patient population.
