As the countdown begins for the 7th China International Import Expo (hereinafter referred to as the “CIIE”) in 2024, Siemens Healthineers, a “full-attendance participant” at the CIIE, has announced that it will exhibit at the event for the seventh consecutive year.
This year, Siemens Healthineers will appear in the Medical Devices and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare Exhibition Area under the theme “Local Wisdom, Global Co-creation,” with a booth spanning 500 square meters. Furthermore, the number of exhibits showcased by Siemens Healthineers at the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) has reached an all-time high, including nearly ten products and technologies making their global or Chinese debuts. Through diverse interactive experiences, attendees will gain close-up insights into Siemens Healthineers’ commitment and responsibility to accelerate connectivity between China and the world and promote global co-creation.
Wang Hao, President of Siemens Healthineers Greater China and member of the Global Leadership Team, stated, “For the seventh consecutive year at the China International Import Expo (CIIE), Siemens Healthineers has consistently regarded the CIIE as a vital window for global medical innovation and technological exchange. It accelerates the deep integration of global innovative resources with the local market, jointly fostering new quality productive forces, while also providing broad opportunities to connect with diverse partners. This aligns perfectly with our philosophy of ‘Local Wisdom, Global Co-creation.’ This year, in addition to presenting the world’s most cutting-edge products and technologies as always, Siemens Healthineers will highlight new local achievements, collaborations, and breakthroughs. We look forward to expanding collaborative horizons with industry partners, exploring further cooperation possibilities on the CIIE platform, jointly driving innovative development in healthcare, and contributing to the transformation and upgrading of global productivity.”
Taking the world’s first photon-counting CT system, NAEOTOM Alpha, as an example, it completed the entire process from its technological debut to market approval in less than two years. At the 4th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in 2021, photon-counting CT technology made its simultaneous global debut in China. The following year, NAEOTOM Alpha was accepted into the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA)’s Special Review Procedure for Innovative Medical Devices. In October 2023, NAEOTOM Alpha officially received NMPA approval and was launched on the Chinese market.
The accelerated implementation of breakthrough technologies aims to empower healthcare institutions to conduct prospective, clinically driven research and explore the translation of scientific findings into clinical practice, thereby enhancing the quality and efficiency of diagnostic and therapeutic services. As the world’s first and currently only photon-counting CT system approved by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), Siemens Healthineers’ NAEOTOM Alpha has brought revolutionary breakthroughs to the precise diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular, respiratory, oncological, and metabolic diseases. Since its launch in China, the number of domestic users has continued to grow within less than a year, with healthcare institutions increasingly deepening their efforts in early diagnosis, precision therapy, and treatment efficacy assessment for major diseases.
Within just a few months, Peking Union Medical College Hospital and Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, secured 18 acceptances for international conferences, including the 2023 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Annual Meeting and the 2024 European Congress of Radiology (ECR). In the first half of 2024 alone, they published seven high-quality articles indexed in the Science Citation Index (SCI). Currently, there are more than 70 ongoing research projects utilizing NAEOTOM Alpha across China. A total of 22 abstracts were submitted to the 2024 RSNA Annual Meeting, and over 20 peer-reviewed manuscripts are currently under review.
At the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE), Siemens Healthineers’ latest 7T MRI system, MAGNETOM Terra.X, will make its Asian debut. The MAGNETOM Terra.X once again pushes medical imaging technology to new heights, advancing from single-nucleus hydrogen imaging to multi-nuclear metabolic energy imaging. By enabling imaging of key nuclei associated with disease metabolism, such as sodium and phosphorus, multi-nuclear imaging is now entering both research and clinical practice, elevating disease exploration to an unprecedented level.
“The CIIE has enabled a broader and deeper recognition of Siemens Healthineers’ professional products among Chinese users and patients. To further ensure that innovative technologies benefit the public, we are continuously deepening our whole-industry-chain layout in China. This year, our most advanced 7T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment will also begin production in China,” added Wang Hao. “Through the deep integration of local expertise and global co-creation, Siemens Healthineers will continue to inject new momentum into the high-quality development of China’s healthcare industry.”
