With the rapid development of China’s pharmaceutical industry, the importance of managing investigational medicinal products (IMPs) for clinical trials has become increasingly prominent. As a pioneer in domestic solutions for clinical trial medication management, Zhejiang Aibiao Health Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Aibiao Health”), jointly initiated and supported a research project with the China Association for Promotion of Human Health Science and Technology and the Women’s Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University. This project aims to analyze the influencing factors and existing issues in the current state of IMP management in China, providing references for optimization and improvement within the industry.
At the “Most Watched Clinical Trial Progress Release Session” of the 2024 Qisi Conference, Abio Health, together with its partners, officiallyreleased the "Industry Insight Report on Clinical Trial Drug Management" (hereinafter referred to as the "Insight Report"), providing the industry with solutions to break through current challenges.

This report, compiled over the course of nearly a year, draws on more than 600 survey responses and in-depth interviews with more than ten industry experts,A Comprehensive Review of the Five Key Process Nodes in the Management of Investigational Medicinal Products: Supply, Transportation, Storage, Dispensing and Return, and Destruction, revealing the problems and challenges existing in each link.
At the press conference, Mr. Ma Xiaoming, Founder and CEO of Abio Health, provided a detailed interpretation of the core findings and key data from the Insight Report. The survey revealed numerous issues in the supply, transportation, and storage of investigational medicinal products for clinical trials, such as unstable supplier deliveries, non-compliant transportation methods, and insufficient storage capacity. These challenges not only compromise the authenticity and integrity of clinical trial data but also pose significant risks to the medication safety of trial participants.

The insight report particularly emphasizes the importance of informatization management. Currently, GCP institutions, sponsors, and CROs have growing demands for informatization management. The use of informatization platforms can significantly improve work efficiency, reduce errors and omissions, and enable rapid transmission and sharing of information. Meanwhile, the report also points out potential issues with informatization management, such as technical failures and information security risks, and recommends that regulatory authorities formulate and refine relevant laws and regulations to standardize the development and use of informatization software/platforms.
Abio Health actively responds to industry demands, committing to promote the standardization and informatization of investigational medicinal product management for clinical trials. By establishing unified drug traceability standards and strengthening global supply chain management and service specifications, the company helps enhance the quality of clinical trials across the industry. The release of the "Insight Report" not only reflects Abio Health’s contribution to the industry but also showcases the company’s technical strength and professional expertise.
Abio Health firmly believes that achieving traceability of investigational medicinal products through standardized and informatized management across the entire process will effectively enhance the quality of clinical trials in China and safeguard the rights, interests, and safety of trial participants. The company will continue to collaborate with industry partners to jointly advance the management of clinical trial medications, contributing to the healthy development of the pharmaceutical industry.
