Led by Academicians, Delving Deeper into the Healthcare Industry

At the Opening Ceremony,Lu Fangzhou, Secretary of the Jiading District Committee of the Communist Party of ChinaIn his address, he pointed out that Jiading, as one of the first pilot health cities in China, has always prioritized the development of the medical and healthcare industry as its main focus for cultivating new quality productive forces and strengthening new growth drivers. By strengthening planning guidance, it has clarified an industrial spatial layout of “one axis, one town, two valleys, and two zones.” By reinforcing industrial clustering, it has gathered more than 1,300 biomedical enterprises, including United Imaging Healthcare, Sanyou Medical, Aipuqiang, Yixin Medical, and Osida. By enhancing policy empowerment, it has introduced a series of high-impact policy measures focused on innovative R&D and project implementation. By fostering a supportive ecosystem, it has promoted deep integration among industry, academia, research, clinical practice, and application through initiatives such as deepening medical-engineering collaboration and establishing shared laboratories.

Lu Fangzhou stated that Jiading is currently implementing the decisions and deployments of the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, focusing on niche segments of high-end medical devices. By leveraging innovation drivers such as large enterprises, major research institutes, and academies, Jiading is continuously optimizing its industrial ecosystem. It is exploring a new development model led by flagship enterprises, featuring the agglomeration of upstream and downstream industry clusters and the deep integration of “industry, city, and people,” thereby accelerating the growth of the biopharmaceutical industry toward the 100-billion-yuan mark. The most representative example of this effort is “United Imaging Town.” Lu expressed hope that both the government and enterprises will further strengthen collaboration, stay focused on their goals, and capitalize on current momentum to rapidly realize the functional, visual, and economic benefits of United Imaging Town, accelerating its development into a demonstration model for industry-city integration. The aim is to enhance the competitiveness of “industry,” optimize the functions of the “city,” and create convenient and livable living spaces, establishing a benchmark for the integrated development of production, life, and ecology.

Zheng Junhua, Secretary of the Party Committee of Renji Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of MedicineTitle: “What Does High-Quality Hospital Development Require? — Establishment and Application Cases of Key Technologies in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Renal Cell Carcinoma”It is clearly stated that the core of the healthcare industry will ultimately return to hospitals and patients themselves. Taking the diagnosis and treatment of renal cell carcinoma as an example, he emphasizes that when building high-level research-oriented disciplines, hospitals need to focus on three key areas (“Three Focuses”): addressing major diseases, enhancing original innovation capabilities, and developing talent cultivation systems. In fostering new quality productive forces within disciplines, efforts should be directed toward five aspects (“Five Efforts”): discipline optimization, self-reliance in high technology, investment in frontier technologies, aggregation of production factors, and empowerment through information technology. These measures aim to comprehensively promote high-quality hospital construction and development, contributing to the Healthy China initiative.
