At the opening ceremony, the establishment ceremony of the “Taizhou Laboratory for Life Sciences” was held.

The "Taizhou Laboratory of Life Sciences" is positioned to focus on target discovery, leveraging various local platforms as key supports, with the aim of building a high-level sci-tech innovation hub that provides full-chain support, comprehensive factor assurance, and coverage across the entire life cycle.
The “Taizhou Initiative” for the Joint Management of the “Three Highs” and the Joint Prevention of the “Three Chronic Diseases” was also released at the event.
In recent years, with the shift in the spectrum of chronic diseases and the accelerating trend of population aging in China, the coexistence of multiple chronic conditions has become increasingly prominent. Notably, there is a significant overlap of “Three Highs” (hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and hyperglycemia) and “Three Chronic Diseases” (chronic heart failure, chronic kidney disease, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).
“Joint management of the ‘three highs’ and joint prevention of the ‘three chronic diseases’ are expected to better prevent and significantly reduce the incidence and mortality of cardiovascular disease, alleviate cardiac and renal burden, benefit patients, and support the implementation of the Healthy China strategy.”
The opening ceremony also featured the launch of the project “Construction and Research of the China Natural Population Demonstration Cohort (Taizhou Cohort),” a major special project under the Science and Technology Innovation 2030 initiative.
