In active response to corporate development needs, to promote the precise matching of financial resources with project requirements, and to further enhance enterprise services, a special investment and financing matchmaking event for the biopharmaceutical and general health sector was successfully held on December 12, 2024. The event was guided by the Shanghai Baoshan District Science and Technology Commission and the People’s Government of Gaojing Town, Baoshan District, Shanghai. It was jointly organized by the National University Science Park of Shanghai Ocean University, Shanghai Hongfang Enterprise Management Co., Ltd., Shanghai Baoshan University Science Park Development Co., Ltd., and China Nanhu Youth Innovation City. The event received joint support from China Merchants Bank Nanxi Sub-branch, Shanghai Haida Business Incubator Co., Ltd., Jiaxing Haike Business Incubator Co., Ltd., HP Information Technology Co., Ltd., VCBeat, and the MBAVC Venture Capital Alliance. The event also invited numerous representatives from biopharmaceutical enterprises, banks, investment institutions, and enterprise service agencies, aiming to facilitate in-depth exchanges and cooperation between biopharmaceutical companies and financial institutions. The event garnered an enthusiastic response.
At the opening of the event, Xia Aiping, General Manager of the Shanghai Project of Health Intelligence Valley, delivered a speech. She pointed out that the development of the biopharmaceutical industry aligns with national conditions and serves as a key driver in accelerating the formation of new quality productive forces. Health Intelligence Valley will leverage the academic strengths of Ocean University to create an industry ecosystem conducive to the growth of biopharmaceutical enterprises.
Huang Jiadong from the Shanghai Biomedical Science and Technology Industry Promotion Center delivered a presentation titled “Interpretation of Several Opinions on Supporting the Full-Chain Innovative Development of the Biopharmaceutical Industry in Shanghai.” He provided an overview covering four key aspects: achievements made by the biopharmaceutical industry, existing challenges, the basis for policy formulation, and priority areas of support. He emphasized that the policy aims to enhance the industry’s capacity for original innovation, accelerate the application and promotion of innovative products, strengthen enterprise services and support for industrialization, and promote the international development of the sector.
The event also featured project showcases by eight biomedical technology companies, which are:1. Development of products based on spontaneous Raman spectroscopy for phenotypic detection and screening of mammalian and microbial cells;2. Research, development, and industrialization of a next-generation universal gene delivery system;3. Development of novel targeted anti-tumor drugs;4. Research, development, and industrialization of high-efficiency low-dimensional nanocomposite catalytic materials;5. Development of biotechnologies and pharmaceuticals aimed at reversing cellular senescence by targeting its root causes;6. Absorbable polymeric artificial blood vessels;7. "Pulsating New Life, Micro-Nano Empowerment": The Micro-Nano Knife Tumor Treatment System;8. A leading spinal care brand specializing in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, providing a closed-loop solution encompassing screening, diagnosis, and treatment.
The roadshow session adopted an “8+5” presentation format. Representatives from each project provided detailed introductions focusing on four key aspects: industry prospects, core technologies, team structure, and financing plans. On-site expert reviewers conducted targeted evaluations, posing questions tailored to the unique characteristics and development stages of each project to gain in-depth insights into technological maturity and market conversion rates. Following the session, project teams engaged in extensive discussions with attending investment and financing institutions.
